Chapter 40
Somewhere in India
Sanjay's and Zoya's drive was very silent. Both looked at each other secretly from time to time but removed their glances to front before the other finds out about this. Zoya was very nervous to meet Sanjay's Nani. He told her a lot about her, inclusive her deep religious side. She was scared how will the woman who was so important to Sanjay react about Zoya and the whole situation. After all Mr. Saxena was about to take a strange girl to his family and not everyone likes to have strangers in his house. For Zoya it was sure that she needed to do whatever was needful to help Sanjay, so that he can leave as soon as possible back to Lucknow and find her brother.
Sanjay was silent too and deep in his thoughts. He was thinking how to explain his Nani why he brought Zoya to her house. No one should know about her real identity but everything in him fought against lies he needed to say to his Nani to keep Zoya's identity secret. He didn't want to lie to her but if he said the truth will it not be too dangerous for both of them? He needed to know that both are safe so that his head is clear for the upcoming days.
Few miles before the town where his Nani lives, Sanjay make a small break to have a lunch and relax before he has to answer so many questions. He and Zoya took place at a small restaurant and waited for their food. They enjoy their food without deep conversation and ate fast so that they could continue their trip. As soon as they were done eating and when Zoya wanted to stand up to follow Sanjay back to car, she stumbled over her clothes and was about to fell down when Sanjay held her arm. Everything happened very fast and Sanjay pulled her into his firm arms and hugged her. They shared an eye lock while Sanjay's hand moved automatically up to Zoya's ear. He moved a strand of hair behind it and she touch his shoulders lightly with her palm.
Both didn't saw the eyes that followed every of their steps since they laid in each other arms. He took his phone immediately out and dialed the number of his wife.
>>Hello, it's me. You can't believe whom I am seeing in front of me. Sanjay, yes, Sanjay Saxena. I think he is married. No, believe me. He is just hugging her. Did Deviyani told you anything about his marriage. No, I can't believe that we weren't invited to the wedding. No, don't call her. Hello, hello.<< The man spoke to his phone.
>>Women, all the same.<< and put it back into his pocket. He was sure his wife will call Sanjay's Deviyani, also known as Nani and tell her few words about not inviting their family to wedding, since both families knew each other for so long. He turned around and entered the bus.
Khuranna House, Lucknow
Arnav looked in the well known face. She was so much more than a maid for him. When he was young, it was her who hugged him, made him his favorite food, listened to him when he spoke about something. She accepted him as he was, silent and reserved. She was the one to whom he told for the very first time about his feelings for Khushi. She knew as one and only, that he slept every night on Khushi's terrace. She knew his deepest feelings and now he stood here and this deep bitterness took over him. Can time change one person? Can life change positive sides of one character into negative? How much can a person change? The answer was clear. He was the best example for this. He changed so much after this fateful day when Khushi send him away.
Arnav was not anymore just Arnav, he slowly changed into Malik. Today he was so much different than his old self. He will never ever trust blind someone again. Never! Arnav was naive but not Malik. And now one of the most important women from his past stood in front of him and he wanted to bomb her with questions. He walked few steps to her and she run formally to him. She touched his cheek and observed his whole face. Tears ran down her face while she spoke.
