Indoraptor had pried open the gate with his long foreclaws, eyes shining with triumph. Blue now circled around him, excited to finally be free. It was what she had longed for, and she finally had it. By each second, she was starting to feel more towards Indoraptor. But it wasn't negative anymore. It was good.
Before they could get moving, they heard the shout of a human. It was the same human who had fed them. Indoraptor nudged Blue's shoulder with his snout. She flicked her tail side to side, making her way towards the man. Indoraptor followed her. Blue leaped onto the human, grasping his head in her jaws. And with a satisfying snap, the neck snapped and her prey fell to the ground, now limp.Blue began to hungrily tear at the fresh meat of the human. She beckoned to Indoraptor with her head for him to join her in the feast. He was the reason they got out here after all, it only seemed fair to repay him.
Blue raised her gray-blue head in alarm to another loud shout of a human. She watched as the human appeared, a long, slender gray stick held firm in his hand. She felt Indoraptor stiffen beside her, growling. He pressed closer to her. Is he protecting me? Blue thought. She growled at the human. I don't need protecting!
She hissed at the human, then two more appeared from behind the one. Each one of the humans carried those slender gray sticks. She wasn't sure what those objects were, but she knew they were dangerous. Indoraptor backed up a step, then leaned his head towards her. "Those sticks hurt. They poke you with them," he informed her in a hushed tone. Blue backed away towards Indoraptor. "I thought so," she murmured. The humans rushed towards them, the sticks held upward in a threatening manner. The two raptors fled back, alarmed. Blue spun around for a second to bite at them, thought she failed when the human thrust out the metal stick at her snout. With a screech, Blue flung herself at the closest human, pinning him to the ground. The other humans surged forward like a wave, ready to strike at her with the sticks. The human she had pinned down now fumbled for his metal stick, but it was just out of reach. Indoraptor ran forward and lunged at the group of humans, protecting Blue. He's protecting me with his life, realized Blue. Maybe he isn't so bad after all.
But she had no time to think about that. She had to teach the humans a lesson. How dare they take her from her home? How dare they enclose her again? And try to hurt her with those metal sticks? They would pay.
She snapped her jaws around the man's neck, and he let out a bloodcurdling scream. Blood spattered her snout, and it bathed the man's chest. Indoraptor gave a yelp, stumbling back a little. Blue's head snapped up, her attention caught by the pain she heard in his yelp. "They poked me with the stick!" He gasped, hissing in pain and defiance. He recoiled, snarling at the humans as Blue hopped to his side, teeth bared. She stretched her claws, and beside her, Indoraptor took a step closer. The two humans muttered uneasily to each other, eyes wide. But they flicked the metal sticks upward again, then swung out towards Blue. She jumped backward, hitting the metal stick with her tail and it fell to the ground. Before the human could move to retrieve his stick, Indoraptor kicked out with his hind leg, pinning him down. The other human shouted, ready to strike with the weapon, but Blue thought quickly. She slashed the pinned man with her hind curved claw, creating a large gash on his chest. He screamed out in desperation, the agony that reflected on his face made Blue satisfied. She flew at the last remaining man, clasping her toothy jaws around his neck. The man still had his weapon, and he attempted to flip it to a position to where he could use it on her. But she had dug her hind curved claws into his leg. The man tried to kick her away with his other leg. He was still somehow alive, just clinging on to life. Indoraptor put his foot down onto the man's leg, holding it down. Blue bit the man's neck again, beginning to eat him alive.
The three intruders were now dead. Indoraptor raised his head, scanning the room for the next escape. Blue licked the fresh human meat from her jaws. The blood left a scarlet stain on her lips, but it would go away on its own if she didn't get the chance to drink or bathe. Indoraptor stooped his head low, tearing a chunk of flesh from the tattered corpse. He chewed the meat rhythmically and swallowed. He ripped off another piece. "Leave some for me!" Blue hissed, snatching half the flesh in her jaws. The two held the meat between each other, sharing it. She pulled on the flesh, causing a small playful tussle between them. Blue felt a warming to her heart, knowing she was starting to trust him more and more by each time they spent time together. He was caring, protective, and strong. She truly admired him, just as he did to her.
Blue flopped over on her side, claiming the food as hers when it dropped from his jaws. She ate it, watching him with mock. "You know there's still more, right?" Indoraptor questioned, though his eyes shone warmly. "I know," she replied, heaving herself upward to brush past him to the corpse. She gripped a piece in her jaws, ripping it away from the attached extra parts. She ate it and turned back to him. "I'm stuffed," she grunted. "Let's get moving."
Indoraptor nodded, beginning to stalk away on his four legs. He sniffed the air, which Blue couldn't help but feel a rush of pride at. I taught him those basic skills. She left with him, and he stopped at a metal door. He pried at the bottom with his long fore claws, growling in annoyance when it didn't budge. He stopped to ponder for a moment, then turned back to the door. He latched one claw around the door hinge, pulling it downwards. The door began to move slowly, and Blue could see through the crack. The door opened more as he kept pulling at the hinge, but in a swift motion, he stopped with confusion, and the door slammed shut. Indoraptor jumped back a little at the noise it made, which was quite loud in the suspenseful silence. As Indoraptor scrabbled against the ground, looking for an exit, Blue stiffened. What was that noise? It sounded like a soft scratching, a small noise in the background. If her hearing wasn't so excellent, she would have never heard it. She looked over at Indoraptor, but he seemed oblivious to it, as he kept crawling about the shiny floor.
"Hey," she growled softly over to him, stepping backward with one foot. "There's something here."
He looked up at her, cocking his head. "Huh? What did you say?" He asked, then his attention was quickly caught by another spot he could possibly escape from. "I said, "there's something here," she hissed back to him. She looked around uneasily. "I think it's another human," she spat. When she said that, he rose from his low position, interest caught. He looked around, alert, moving his head quick and choppily like a bird, just as Blue did in some times.
She was right. A human exploded from the door, accompanied by three others. "Run!" He screeched, scrambling wildly around the shiny room. "There's nowhere to run to!" She retorted, though she was panicking. The humans carried something more scary and powerful than those shocking sticks. They were carrying some other stick-shaped thing, and she knew that they shot things at you, and it made her dizzy, eventually falling asleep. She didn't like them, she found them weird how the her vision went dizzy and fuzzy almost immediately. She didn't like having no control over her own body when it fell asleep on its own when those things poked into her skin.
"Don't let them shoot at you," she warned Indoraptor. "They make you fall asleep."
Indoraptor blinked in confusion, wondering how that worked, but then he seemed to remember something. "The humans used those on me before," he recalled, backing away with a careful eye on the humans, who seemed to be coming closer each second. "Maybe I can kill one of the humans," he planned. Blue rushed over to him, suddenly protective. "Don't you dare!" She snapped at him. "They'll shoot at you!"
He glanced over at her and growled. "I'll be fine. I promise," he lowered his snout towards hers, trying to provide reassurance. She snarled at him. "Stay away from them! They'll shoot you, and I need you," she explained hurriedly. "Please!"
"You need me?" He cocked his head, eyes widening.
"Yes. I.. I need you," she repeated. Blue needed him, she cared about him. "But I also need you to get me out of here," she added. Indoraptor gazed at her. He didn't say anything, and he didn't move."Come on. We need to find a way out of here and away from the humans," she prodded him in the side with her snout. "Don't you know the way out?"
Blue saw him hesitate, then look around. "I don't know what to do," he admitted, sounding defeated. "But we can try to find a way," he said, sounding more hopeful.Bang.
Indoraptor let out an alarmed screech, whipping around to face the humans. But the way he moved was already slow and sloppy. Blue gasped. They shot him!
"No, no, no! Indoraptor, please," she begged, nosing his neck when he began to flop down to the floor. Blue looked up to the humans, snarling. She knew that her fate was looming, and she had no chance against them.
Bang.
Blue felt something stab her side, and almost immedately, she was dizzy. She felt sleep drag at her, all understanding of what was happening was lost. She forgot she had to stay awake and fight it. Blue floppped to the ground. All her muscles felt unnaturally limp. She closed her eyes with one last look at Indoraptor, who she had fell next to.
Who she had fallen for.
