Protection Tools

If you're looking to summon a certain spirit or entity, it's important to use proper preparation to protect yourself from attachment or negative energy. There are many different tools and ways to protect yourself, some of them are listed below.
Protective circles
These can be a ring of salt, chalk, holly water or moon water with the proper symbols or sigils around it for the said entity you're trying to summon.
Summoning circles
Using sacred geometry, symbols, letters, sigils and more one may create a custom summoning circle for a certain entity to keep them limited to within this circle during the session.
Burning Sage
This is a good way to cleanse your home or space before spell work or summoning. Simply start at the door and walk around the room cleansing it of negative energy.
Salt and water
Your moon water, holly water, salt, black salt, etc. Can be used for more them just creating protective circles. These tools can also be used to protect your space; place one windowsills to keep entities or energy from entering, place by the door to keep negative spirits out, make a mist spray to cleanse your space.
Sigils and prayers
An orison is a magic prayer, they are often used before or after spell work or summoning to cleanse one's self of attachments or negative energy. There are many out their and some people even make their own. Sigils are also used for protection either on circles or just placed around.
The Book of Grimorium states; The evocation of spirits should be done within the safety of a magic circle, which should be fumigated with mace. The circle drawn for evoking spirits is drawn with charcoal and has the sigil of the spirit in the middle and various phrases around the outside. Once you've made your circle and before entering inside, fumigate it with musk, amber, lignum and frankincense. One could also use the Pentacle of Solomon for protection.

If you're looking to communicate with spirits or entities it's important to use the proper tools and understand them. There are many different tools for communication, some of them are listed below.
Magic bell
One of the means to compel obedience from the spirits.
A hand bell, inscribed several words and characters upon the inner surface of the bell, write names of spirits or planets on them, then swing the bell and ring it, call out to the spirit you wish to summon, the bell can attract or repel numerous spirits, each bell crafted for a certain spirit, the words or characters changed for each session, one may have several bells for attention or repealing.
The book of demonology states;
The sound of bells is accounted a very energetic preservative; and therefore it is well to ring them during storms to drive away evil spirits.
Magic mirror
A means of communication with the supernatural world. A steel mirror smeared with mugwort juice, when the moon is conjunct with Jupiter, natural blood, then cense it, write the names of the seven stars and their figures, the names of the seven angels and their figures, all written on the mirrors outer edge. spirits could be summoned to appear in it.

Increasingly popular tools used that efficiently measure the electromagnetic field radiating from an item or within a specific area. Having an understanding of wavelength, frequency and, identifying the source(s)
Ouija Board
The Oujia board; also called the spirtit board, talking board, Oracle board, mystery board or witch Board- is considered a divination or method of connecting with higher or other energies. It's a mystic tool that helps us communicate and connect with the unseen, much like that of a telephone used to talk to spirits of the other side.
The inventor of the Ouija board claimed it got its name when they asked it what it should be called, it replied Ouija. They also asked it what Ouija ment, it replied Good luck.

Pendulums
These are sometimes used to talk to spirits and entities, much like the ouija board this device spells out messages from spirits. But unlike the ouija board, pendulums are much easier to cleanse and entities often don't attach to them.

Spirit Vessel
Often a jar or glass container with a cork or lid, designed to house visiting ancestor spirits. These vessels are often filled with ashes or artifacts of the deceased, herbs such as wormwood, bay, tobacco, elder, holly or other elements such as graveyard dirt, bone, hair or nails.
Spirit Jar Trap
A glass jar or container with a lid, designed to trap a negative spirit inside. Fill the jar with one part salt water and three parts spring water, drop 13 thorns into the jar one at a time while focusing your intent to snag them, crush up the petals of one rose and add them to the water. Keep the jar open over night, just before sunrise close the jar and cover it with a cloth, take the jar far away and either burry it or release the entity into a flowing body of water to send it away.
