"What do you think of the quiz?" Jungkook questioned, poking my elbow as I was ignoring him. The three of us were seated around the coffee table, which had four, separate white sofas, two on each side. Jungkook had pushed a sofa towards me to sit beside me which I find bothersome. He was meant to sit between me and Nari to help us both but since he's built a bit special, he didn't.
I was sitting next to Nari, looking tiredly at the screen as she was doing the quiz. I already finished it and it took more than an hour. I wanted to speed-run the questions since it was getting boring but I didn't since Jungkook will nag. I hate how he acts as nothing had happened between us.
"Oi, answer me." He said, grabbing on my arm and squishing it, giving this weird feeling. I scowled at him, turning over to glare at him and he cowered down in fear, pouting.
"Can't you see I'm trying to concentrate on the screen- on what Nari's doing?" I spat, angrily looking at him and he pull a duck face.
"You don't need to concentrate on my screen." Nari piped up and I turned to look at her in disbelief as she had her eyes on the screen, instead of on me.
Is this girl agreeing with Jungkook? Tch... the audacity bro.
"You can go ahead and flirt with your boyfriend. I won't interrupt." She said, pushing her hair back and I push my lips together, wondering if I should slap her or not.
"Exactly." Jungkook agreed and I turned to look at him. He was smiling childishly and I rolled my eyes, clenching my jaw.
"Can you not act like this?" I asked him, giving him an icy stare and he pouted. "I don't get what you're trying to do- do you want me to forgive you or something?"
"Yeah..." He mumbled, wrinkling his nose as he intertwine his fingers together as he drop his head down. "I already bought you a new phone... a better one."
"I don't care if is better, you still broke my last phone." I chided, drifting my gaze back to the screen as I watch Nari answering each of the questions through rapid clicks.
I heard him sigh in irritation as he decided to stop bugging me and fiddle with something instead.
This is good... now I can contemplate about different things... such as what am I going to do with my life if this school doesn't start any sooner. I swear, I'm forgetting all the important math formulas I spent memorising for weeks. During my high school years, I've spent lots of time learning math formulas because I'm not exactly fantastic at it.
"How old are you Y/N?" Nari questioned, scrolling down through the question and I raised an eyebrow.
"I'm 15. Turning 16 soon." I answered. "Why?" I questioned, curious why she asked.
She shakes her head, as though there wasn't a reason, passing me an enigmatic smile. "Oh, you just look young, I mistook you for a high schooler." She answers, furrowing her eyebrows.
"Oh, you're not wrong," I replied, forcing a smile as I wasn't sure how to express myself. "You're very fastidious." Nari gave me another ambiguous smile as she hovered her gaze back towards the screen, giving off a cogitating vibe.
"If you're that smart, why didn't you move to another more prestigious and well-known school instead of this trash school?" She inquired, her face close to the screen as she was crouching down.
"I don't think this school is that trash... I'm just really behind on my studies but I can keep up." I murmured in a diffident tone as I was unsure.
"That's why is trash," Nari muttered, placing her fingers on the keyboard and typing responses down. "Can't believe they let the murderers run freely for four years already as though they don't bring any harm to the school. Those smartass teachers... what's the point of trying to use their brain when they don't even have one?" She ranted, her face twisting into a scowl.
That's a bit harsh...
"Keep your mouth close if you don't have anything nice to say," Jungkook spoke in fury and I could feel an alarmingly heated aura behind me. "You're just some irrelevant new student so don't start talking sh*t, when you don't know sh,*t."
Okay, that's even harsher if is just targeting Nari.
"I wonder... if I was Y/N, would you say that?" Nari asked Jungkook in a challenging tone, turning over to look at him. She was grinning evilly like a witch, finding it humorous by testing his patience.
I wish to warn her that testing his patience was the biggest mistake she could make in her life but she had officially gone too far. I'll just pray in silence for her like a nice girl I am.
"Don't compare yourself to Y/N." He muttered. "You'll never be someone like her."
I couldn't decide whether that was a compliment or an insult but I figured that I should let the two argue, while I stay between them, trying to keep myself calm and enjoying the beef.
"I'm not comparing, just wondering," Nari replied, curling her lip into a smile. "Answer my question will you?"
"No, I wouldn't," He said, his eyes locking with hers and both of them shared an intense gaze towards one another. "Because Y/N isn't the type of person who says stuff impulsively- despite being younger than you she's much more mature."
"Same goes for you." Nari sassed, turning her head back to the screen and I caught her rolling her eyes disparagingly.
Scoffing in annoyance, the boy beside me turn to look away, folding his arms like a grumpy bunny. Giggling quietly, I found his childish acts a little cute. Maybe too cute...
"Oh, by the way, Y/N, is it okay if you look away? I need to check something that's meant to be kept confidential between my friends."
Didn't see any problem with the favour, I nodded and look away, making sure to avoid looking at the boy beside me who was still huffing in anger. I find it a bit uncomfortable as he was looking in my direction, his doe eyes seems to be curiously looking at something.
A few seconds of silence between us had passed, with only the sounds of the fast tapping keyboards and the ticking clock. All of the sudden, Jungkook leaped up from the sofa, pushing the sofa with so much force that it crashes onto the floor and ran towards Nari.
Widening my eyes in surprise, Jungkook wrapped his arms around Nari, who stayed calm and focus on the screen as though she was trying to remove what was on it. Some people may think that he's trying to give Nari a back hug since that's what couples do. Is conspicuous. In reality, Jungkook was wrestling with her, trying to get her off her computer by pulling her towards the floor with him and screaming some words at me that were inscrutable.
I didn't know what the issue was so I just sat there and watch the two of them wrestling, with Jungkook doing the same thing over and over again while Nari was elbowing him and typing with one hand on several buttons and rapidly clicking on her mouse. It was like she was a robot, not even blinking once.
"Y/N!" His voice suddenly getting through me and I looked up. He was passing me a hard look with wrath, the veins on his neck popping. It was as though he was infuriated with me for just sitting there and not doing anything. "Y/N, can you grab her laptop from her!? Plea-" His words were cut off when he finally managed to wrestle her onto the floor. They were in a weird position, with Jungkook on top while Nari at the bottom, their arms, and legs tangled together.
Confuse, I was a bit slow to act as I read to grab her computer and place it onto my lap. Gazing at the screen, I cocked my head as the only thing that I'm seeing is a black screen with green words that were filled with complications. It isn't easily comprehended, only something for people with artificial intelligence, mainly robots.
"There's nothing important here... why-" My voice break off when I saw Jungkook, glaring at her harshly and fiercely. He was puffing in anger, and Nari was staring at him while grinning wickedly.
"You..." Jungkook started, placing his hands flat onto the floor on each side of her head. "You work for the murderers, don't you?"
