"They can't be forced to do this," number Eight says. "They are just kids."
"It will prepare them," number Two says, an evil look in his eye.
"Maybe eight is right," number Six says skeptically. "We should make the ages higher. Or just drop The Test completely."
Seven slams his fists on the desk in front of him. "Making kids wait just makes them stronger."
They all look at number Five.
"You've been awful quiet," One says.
She flinches a little. "I didn't notice."
He leans in. "Tell us what you think about this."
She glares at him. "You're son is about to turn sixteen," she says dryly. "He'll have to do this too?"
One shakes his head. "My son does not have to do anything," he snaps.
"Then why do these kids have to? I don't believe they've done anything wrong. We won't even send our own kids, how do we expect other---"
She stopped talking when a knife soared through her head.
One glares at her so hard, she was sure it was the end.
But instead, he cracks his knuckles. "Don't ever doubt me again," he hisses.
She nods, terrified. "Yes, sir."
One gives them all a cruel smile. "I believe we're all on the same page then?"
They all nod.
"Good," he says darkly. "Tomorrow we send out the fake scholarships."
