"How did we lose them?" One demands. "They're a bunch of kids."
Seven growls. "I don't know. But we need to find them. That girl should've been dead by now."
Five crosses her arms over her chest. "Maybe we should just let this go. It's just a girl."
One turns to glare at her. "Just a girl," he repeats in a low voice.
"Lets not get him started," Two says in a bored tone. "She has to die because One doesn't like her. We murder whoever we don't like."
"It's a good thing we bought the cops," Six mutters.
One, angry with all the comments, decides to just walk away. Five follows behind him.
"How else can I prove to those people?" One asks silently. "If the girl leaves. Who else can I prove myself to?"
Five rolls her eyes. "You are so dramatic. Like I said, it's just a girl. You have proved yourself. And I don't think you need to do so any longer."
He glares at her. "I could shoot you right now," he says in a low voice. "No one is around. And it's not like they'd really care if you were dead."
Although she was scared, Five let her face remain inpassive. "If you really want to then you can go ahead," she says calmly.
Taken aback by this reaction, he holds up his gun. "Really, now?"
She shrugs. "I don't see the point in trying anymore. Go ahead and end my misery."
One cracks a smile. "Now who's the one being dramatic?"
Five looks down at the ground. "I need you to forget about this girl, Wade. If you want this marriage to work then you have to forget about proving yourself to those people - whoever they are. And maybe--"
She felt rather than heard the gun shot.
Looking down, she notices its her leg that is wounded. As if in slow motion, she falls to the ground, surprised that her husband had shot her."Now, now," One says darkly. "You don't want to make me mad, do you?"
If it gets me out if this, she thinks to herself. But she knows better than to say those words out loud.
She has to wait for the right moment. Now is not the time to rebel.
