~(Y/n)'s POV~
I slowly opened my eyes to a bright light. I squinted, and sat up.
"Where...am I?" I looked around. "A field?"
I slowly get to my feet, and stretch my arms. "Where do I live?" I looked around, but there isn't a house in sight, just an endless field, lined with a forest at one side. "Huh...am I homeless? That would explain waking up in a field..."
I heard a noise a few feet away, and looked over to see a blonde girl sitting on the ground, rubbing her head.
"Ow..." She mumbled.
Almost immediately, my eyes were drawn to one body part that seemed unnatural to me.
"Are those...elf ears." I asked myself.
The girl snapped her head at me, then touched her long ears, and suddenly became panicked.
"STAY BACK!"
"Huh? Listen, I don't really-" I took a step forward.
"I said stay back!" She drew her bow, and pulled back an arrow, aiming straight for me.
I froze. "Okay, okay. I'll stay back." I took a step backwards.
She looked at me, clearly confused.
"You're a lively one, aren't you?" I layed back down on the grass, staring into the sky.
I heard footsteps walking towards me, and the girl came into my view.
"You're...strange."
"Well, that's kinda rude." I sighed. "What's up with your ears? That a birth defect or something?"
"BIRTH DEFECT?!" She glared at me.
"Well, you just seem self conscious about them. I mean, you pulled a bow on me right when I saw them."
"They're not a birth defect, you idiot! These are normal ears for Elves!" She clapped a hand over her mouth.
"Huh? Elves?" I started thinking, slowly putting it all together. "ELVES?!"
I shot up. "You're an elf?!"
She quickly shook her head. "Of course not! You just heard wrong!"
"What? I'm pretty sure you said el-"
"I said you heard wrong!" She screamed. She began trembling, and crouched down. "You heard wrong...I'm a normal human..."
"...I don't think a normal human would call themselves a normal human."
She flinched, and then I started to hear sniffling. "Great...first day out of the forest, and I'm already good as dead..."
Huh? What? Dead? Who's dead? Her? Why? Does she think I'm going to kill her?
I slowly walked towards her, then sat down next to her.
"I'm not going to kill you, you know?"
She looked at me, tears stained her cheeks.
"Don't lie to me! All of you...you're all the same..."
"All of who? I'm lost."
"You humans! Do you really have no sense of shame for what your kind has done for the past millennium?! You're all greedy, and care about nothing but money! What makes you humans so much superior to us elves?! You have much shorter lifespans than elves, and are nowhere near as versatile in the wilderness! So what makes you so superior to us?!"
She was breathing heavily, rage and tears filled her eyes.
"...I don't...think I'm superior to anyone."
