#2 comparing both memories

It is a little hard to compare these two memoires because they are so different; they both talk about their life stories and what happened to them but their stories are not at all the same.

The Glass Castle talks about her life and how she lived poor, on the street and always moving around from place to place. Her father who could not hold a job or his alcohol intake, and her mother who tries to hard to be optimistic about things but never has the guts to stop living this way. She told an amazing story about how she got to where she is now. Reading the book was easy because I was able to get into the character, I was able to see what she was seeing through her eyes while reading. Some parts of the book were rougher then others but it was still a good and quick read. The Glass Castle is full of empty promises that were never completed.

The Glass Castle is different from the other memoire Long Way Gone because there was no war nor was any blood being spilt. Long Way Gone is a good book but it cannot be read fast, because of the gore in it. Being a true story it is even harder to read the book because you are telling yourself ‘this really happened to him’ and you can visualize everything that is happening in the book. It is not something I like to read and have mental pictures of.

Reading Long Way Gone was a lot harder then I thought it would be. I did not think that a book based on child solider would be so hard. The reason why it was so hard to read was because it was a memoire, so I psyched my brain into the realness of it and it scared me a lot. I am terrified for him. He had to go through so much when he was younger that no child should go through. War is not for children. It was hard to read because it kept jumping back and forth to past and present, it got a little confusing. The langue too was different compared to The Glass Castle.

Comparing the information on both books, each one has an important message inside them. It is important to know what it going on in life. That if we are poor its not just use there are other people who are living the same or worst lives then us. For Long was Gone is that we had to know what was going on in certain parts of the world, that children are being forced to do something so foul and cruel that they should not be doing; but they had not chose to do if they wanted to live.  They were stories that will never be forgotten because of the information they hold. Every time I see the books I will remember what each of them had to say. No one should have gone through all of them in a life time.
