Navigating their relationship without the flirting or the touching was strange to say the least. Eva wasn't sure how to act around him now, how to be friends with him, and was thankful he had taken the lead. Thankful for that, and that much of their time together was spent with others. Levi had returned later that evening, replacing Erwin's spot at her side but he didn't mention what he had been doing. Eva figured she owed him at least this secrecy since she had plotted behind his back to stay with the scouts. After a few more days of awkwardness, and holding a funeral for what was left of Isabel and Furlan, they were back in good standing.

"Eva, Levi!" They turned as Hange ran up, a paper in hand.

"Lovof! It's in the papers!" Eva sprinted ahead, meeting them halfway and taking the paper from their hand. Levi slowed behind her, and read over her shoulder.

"House arrest," Eva muttered, the edge of the paper crinkled under her grip.

"Premier Zachary tried to get him prison time, but the crown lessened it to house arrest since it's a first time offence," Hange explained. Eva rolled her eyes, handing Levi the paper.

"More like the first time he got caught."

"It's fine, not like he can get around here," Levi replied, tossing the paper back to Hange. His eyes moved to Moblit as he ran up.

"Did you tell them?"

"About Lovofs slap on the wrist?" Eva replied.

"No, the Commander wants to speak with Levi." Levi raised his brow, glancing at Eva who shrugged.

"We took a heavy loss in the last expedition, including some titled officers and not to mention the transfers that usually happen," Moblit explained.

"Wait, titled officers?"

"Four Squad Leaders, one Captain, and one Section Commander. Miche was promoted to Squad leader to replace Flagon, Nanaba is also in consideration. Hange is in the running for the Section Commander position."

"What? Congrats, I didn't know you were interested in climbing the ranks," Eva replied.

"I'm not, but if it gets me closer to getting a lab for titan research then I'll take it." In their short time together, Eva had learned that Hange's fascination with titans was part of the reason Erwin recruited them. Hange was sharp, frighteningly intelligent, and even more so since they didn't always act like it. They always said if people couldn't handle their personality, what business did they have knowing them?

"Wait, so your thinking Levi might be offered a promotion?" Eva asked and Moblit nodded.

"Probably a squad leader, Erwin's recruits tend to rise the ranks quickly much to Shadis' annoyance."

"Two questions, what about you and what about me?"

"I'm happy where I am. As for you, didn't the Commander call you stupid?" Eva rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, because I saved someone. How did you even hear about that?"

"The soldier you saved, he's transferring. He said you gave him a second chance that he wasn't going to spend here. Which probably doesn't help your case, and Shadis doesn't like people who don't follow orders."

"So, why's he promoting Levi?" Hange snorted, causing Eva to laugh as she ducked under Levi's swing.

"Get going, before Shadis finds a way to blame me for you taking so long."

"We'll be at the bar when you're done!" Hange called after him.

"Isn't it a little early?" But Hange had already taken her arm, then Moblit's as she dragged them away.
