"John, wake up. We're here." Sherlock nuzzled his lips into John's greying blonde hair and kissed him on his head, stirring him awake. As John slowly let his eyes drift open, he peered out the window of the car to see planes jetting off to unknown places and landing from a great distance away.
"Already?" John said as followed by a yawn and a small stretch.
"Yeah, we're here." Sherlock kissed him again but on the nose.
Stepping out of the car, and letting their eyes adjust to the sudden brightness of the sun, they grabbed their suitcases out of the bob of the car and headed for the front of the airport.
"We've got some time on our hands before we have to board, what shall we do?" Sherlock wrapped his arm around John's waist and pulled him closer to his side.
"How's about lunch? I saw a small restaurant on the way in." Sherlock nodded his head in agreement as they walked back towards the front of airport.
"Did you pick you what you wanted?" John asked Sherlock as he held a small salad in one hand and his jacket in the other.
"Not hungry." Sherlock said.
"It's going to be quite a long flight. Will you at least share with me?" John took his hand into Sherlock's, making the tall man break into a smirk.
"For you, John."
As they approached the counter to pay, Sherlock quickly took out some money and handed it over to the clerk. John opened his mouth to protest but closed it quickly.
"Sherlock, you can't pay for everything for me." John rolled his eyes. Sherlock did nothing but smile.
Sitting down to eat, Sherlock would steal bits of lettuce from John's salad and deduce people that sat scattered around the half-empty lounge as John would watch his facial expressions that went along with his deductions.
"God, I love you." John muttered to himself, hoping Sherlock wouldn't hear his statement.
"I love you too." John stopped mid bite as he looked at Sherlock, smiling so wide that the corner of his eyes crinkled.
"Flight 174 from London to Glasgow now boarding." The intercom shut off as quick as it came on.
"I suppose we better get going." John wiped his mouth with a napkin then got up to throw away his salad, Sherlock still trying to deduce a couple that sat in the far corner.
"Let's go, we're going to miss our flight." John grabbed his suitcase and folded his jacket to fit in the front pocket of it. He tugged at Sherlock's sleeve trying to get his attention but nothing worked. As he finally gave up, he kissed him on the cheek and saw him snap out of his daze just long enough to grab his suitcase and head towards the gate. Sherlock passed John's ticket over to him as his eyes got wide.
"First class?! Sherlock, you can't do that, you shouldn't need to..." Sherlock smashed his lips against John's before he could finish.
"Shut your gob, and enjoy it." Sherlock smirked, his perfectly bowed lips slightly turning upwards and the corner of his eyes wrinkling the wider he smiled. They locked their arms together, handed their tickets over, and boarded the plane; taking their seats in first class as stored their bags in their over head storage. Once settled into their seats, Sherlock sat next to the window as John locked arms with him again and eventually entertwining their fingers as he settled his head against Sherlock's shoulder. As Sherlock slightly lifted from his seat, he scrambled around for something in his pocket and coming up with an mp3 player. He placed one earbud in his ear then handed the other to John as he started playing music.
"Violins?" John asked, as the music filled his head.
"Celtic music, actually." Sherlock corrected him. John couldn't help but chuckle lightly.
"God I love you." John nuzzled in closer to Sherlock as he rested his head on top of John's.
"I love you too John." Sherlock said, closing his eyes but not yet keen on falling asleep.
"Sherlock?"
"Hm?" Sherlock hummed in response.
"Is this really happening?" John asked he looked up to his fiance, opening one eye to look at John.
"Of course. Though it might seem impossible, this is real. And the best thing is, I'm with you." Sherlock kissed John's temple and went back to resting his head on John.
"That was the cheesiest answer I've ever heard. But I love you anyways for trying." John said.
"Thank you. Why don't you get some sleep? I'll wake you up when we get there." Sherlock yawned and wrapped his arm around John, pulling him closer to his skinny torso.
"I could say the same to you. You get some sleep as well." John stated, letting his eyes drift off to sleep.
"John?"
"Yes?"
"I love you." John lightly smiled.
"I know idiot."
"Yes, but I'm your idiot." Sherlock playfully shot back.
"My idiot fiance. I'll never get tired of that." John stated.
"And soon to be your idiot husband." John grinned so wide he cheeks hurt.
"My idiot husband, I like that much better."
"As do I. Sleep well John." Sherlock kissed him once more on the temple and settled back in."Sleep well Sherlock." As his eyes grew more heavy by the second, John eventually fell asleep still holding on to the thought of his idiot fiance and future husband; his smile never growing smaller. As was Sherlock's the rest of the plane ride.
