There was a smooth breeze on the surface, a cold but calming breeze. The sun was almost setting. The waves of the water slightly brushing our feet. Walking by the shore, I was a bit behind him
"Is he mad at me? He hasn't spoken once all day" I thought. Apparently he did have a good reason to be mad. It was supposed to be a couple vacation, if my friends bombarded of course he'd be mad. The fault is not theirs either, I didn't tell them I was coming here with my boyfriend.
The fault is mine, I should have cleared it with my friends instead of just hanging out with them all day long just because they bombarded without knowing "He's definitely mad.......should I say something?" I thought to myself. I was planning what I was gonna say when he suddenly stopped walking. I stopped too. I opened my mouth to talk when I heard his voice before mine could be voiced
"Sunsets are really beautiful huh" he turned to face the sea and looked straight at the setting sun "It's the prettiest I've seen yet"
"......." His voice sounded unusual, as if he's extremely sad yet emotionless. It was all my fault, I ruined our vacation. "I'm sorry......" I apologized, and I meant it. I felt guilty for making him sad, it hurts me to know that I was the reason he couldn't enjoy his long awaited vacation
"What are you apologizing for?" he faced me now, his hair swept to the side by the breeze. He had a really soft expression on his face, for some reason, I couldn't read him no matter how hard I tried
"......For ruining our vacation. I should've told my friends I wasn't going alone. It's not their fault.......they only wanted to keep me company"
"It's not your fault though, why are you apologizing?" he let out a chuckle and faced the sea again "It was childish of me to get grumpy in the first place. I didn't mean to make you feel like it's your fault...." There was a long silence after he finished speaking. The sun was almost down by now. He turned towards me and took a few steps towards me. I didn't move from my spot. He stopped when he was just a few inches away from me. I stared into his eyes, still trying to read his expression, but couldn't.
"I'm happy I could see this beautiful sunset with you...and I'm not mad, I promise. You can relax" his words did relax me. At this point, for some reason I couldn't control my own expression. I flashed a weak smile. I was just happy he wasn't mad at me
I hugged him, both of our head on each other's shoulders. We stayed like that for almost a minute before he pulled away to reach my face, and pressed his lips against mine. The sunset, the cold breeze, the waves going over our feet made it feel like a blissful oblivion
When we pulled away, he just gazed into my eyes, and so did I. I don't know this feeling, maybe I just fell for him again? Maybe I fell deeper into the love
"I'm sorry, I was the only one having fun today" I said, not breaking the eye contact
He chuckled, "Seeing you happy is more than enough to make me smile"
The sweet small smile across his face proved it all, whatever he said in the past few minutes, none of that was a lie
The sun was already down, and the night started to get colder by the minute. "Let's go back, shall we? It's getting cold out" He too my hand and gestured to walk back to the hotel. I just nodded as an answer and we started walking
I was worried for no reason. My boyfriend's the type of guy, who'll forgive me no matter how mad I make him...... that does make me feel like an asshole sometimes, but he loves me for who I am, he accepts me as the idiot I am. And that makes me fall for him more and more, day by day.
