On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, the sun was beaming down in LA. Seven year old Wynter Wilson rode her pink bicycle, decked out with pretty flowers and pink tassels, up and down her street. Her long hair pulled up into two pigtails humming to herself until a mover's truck pulling up on the opposite side caught her attention. Her pedaling slowed as she observed the people jumping out of the truck and started to move boxes into the house opposite her own.
She hadn't realised that she was steering into a tree and went crashing into it before toppling off her bike, hitting the floor with a thud. Wynter sits up and looks down at her scraped knee and pouts when she sees the blood seeping through her torn tights. "Ouchie" She hisses as her eyes tear up at the sting of her wound. A shadow emerges over her causing her to look up at whoever it was standing over her.
"Are you okay?" Wynter blinks a few times when a boy no older than she was, perches down in front of her and lowers his deep blue eyes to look at her cut and then at her again. "I fell off my bike" Wynter tells him with a sniffle. The little boy nods in response. "I saw" He leans over and looks at her wound again. "Does it hurt?" He questions but Wynter just nods her head slowly.
"I'm James but you can call me Bucky.. my friends call me Bucky" He says as he points over at the house opposite, with all the movers. "That's our new house we're moving into.." Wynter just nods again staying quiet. "What's your name?" Bucky breaks the silence once again.
"Wynter.. I live over there" She points at the house opposite his. Bucky nods "Neighbours!" He states joyfully with a innocent smile, he then observes the Minnie Mouse dress she was wearing. "You like disney?" He asks, Wynter looks down at her dress before meeting his gaze again with a nod. "I do, don't you?" Bucky makes an icky face. "I'm a man.. too old for disney.. I do like Marvel though.."
Wynter raises her eyebrows fully aware of Marvel. "So does my brother Sam" Bucky sits down on his bottom in front of her nodding in response. "What's his favourite hero?" Wynter thinks for a moment trying to recall the name "I think it's the bird guy.."
"The falcon.. lame! Mine is Captain America" Wynter giggles "I think the robot guy is cool" Bucky sighs shaking his head "Iron man.. get it right.." Wynter tilts her head before she could even respond both their parents call for them at the same time.
"Wynter?"
"James?"Both children turn and take a look at their mothers walking towards them, Sam followed from behind. "Oh sweetheart, are you okay?" Darlene Wilson asks as she leans down in front of her daughter and brushes off the dirt from her outfit. "I crashed into the tree momma" She points to the bike on the ground. Sam leans down next to his sister and pats her back to comfort her.
"James? What you doing out here honey? You're suppose to be helping your sister with the boxes" Bucky's mother Winnifred Barnes queries whilst brushing her son's soft brown hair out of his face. "She fell mom, I wanted to see if she was okay" Bucky answers, Sam smiles at the caring gesture of the young boy. Both mothers look at each other with a smile.
"I guess we're neighbours" Darlene Wilson tells Winnifred Barnes, Mrs Barnes brings out her hand to shake with Mrs Wilson's. "Winnifred Barnes, you can call me Winni" Mrs Wilson smile taking her hand shaking it softly. "Darlene Wilson"
Darlene then takes Wynter's hand lifting her up gently. "Come inside honey.. let's take a look at this leg" Wynter blinks at her mom smiling before she looks over to Bucky. "Can we invite Bucky for dinner momma? Please?" Her mom chuckles before looking up at Mrs Barnes.
