"Bucky.."
Wynter responds with a slight shaky voice. He looked so different yet so familiar at the same time. Those deep blue eyes of his still warm her through and through. He's taller than she last remembered, must more muscular. His hair gotten a little darker and shorter.
After he left, Wynter got curious and googled him on every social media platform but he was off. He never kept a single account running, and since then she stopped searching. She hated how attractive he looked, a jawline so sharp it could cut glass, and his faded beard looked so fine and suited him well.
"It's good to see you.." Wynter snaps back to reality as she looks around the room watching the way everyone was waiting for the meeting. "Sam.." Wynter states, Sam just nods wanting to keep it civil, for at least this moment anyway.
Wynter rolls her shoulders back and walks past him towards the table in the conference room and sinks into her seat. Bucky takes the chair opposite her, his eyes on her the entire room. "Let's start.." Sam states.
Wynter could feel Bucky's gaze while she sat there pretending to listen to Sam speak, all the time she was trying to figure out how the hell is she going to work close with him, how Sam will. There was nothing Sam could do, he signed for this partnership and couldn't fire Bucky even if he wanted too, they were both in higher positions.
As Bucky begins to talk alongside Sam he kept moving his left hand, Wynter then notices a golden band on his finger, he was married. That was a wedding ring. She felt sick to her stomach, literally. She sat there avoiding eye contact with him until the meeting was over.
Once the meeting came to an end everyone began packing and leaving the conference room. Once the room cleared up Molly came in knocking on the door. "Sorry to interrupt but there is a Romanoff and a Rogers here to see you.."
Wynter, Sam and Bucky all stood up looking at the door watching as Steve and Natasha walk through the doors. Like time never passed, all of them in the same room. "You can leave now Molly, thank you" Sam states. Wynter walks over to Nat, as they both stare at each other.
"Don't tell me you work here too.." Nat nods. "That looks like the case.. hey sweet pea" Wynter smiles as her eyes tear up, she instantly pulled Nat into a hug. Steve did the same with Bucky and Sam. There was no bad blood with Nat and Steve, they just fell apart.
"So this is nuts.." Steve breaks the tension as he looks at both Sam and Bucky. Sam avoids to look at Bucky. "I need some air alright.. this is all too much" Bucky opens his mouth to speak but then decides it wasn't a good time, not right now anyway.
Once Sam leaves the room Bucky lifts his gaze up to look at Wynter. "I was thinking maybe we could get reacquainted and catch up.. considering we all have to work together"
Wynter blinks and for a long moment she just stares at him. "Reacquainted?" She repeats. he nods, looking at her intently, the corners of his eyes squinting. "Yes, It's what people who haven't seen other in a while do.." Wynter fake chuckles.
"That's what you call it.. I don't know what you expect from me.. after all this time.. you want a hug?" Nat and Steve both exchange a look. Bucky takes a step towards her and rubs his jaw. "I mean, I wouldn't say no" Wynter scowls and crosses her arms over her chest. "I would.."
"Well would you like to go for some coffee?" Wynter stares up at him. "Already had one" Bucky then nods. "Okay we'll go for some lunch then.." Wynter takes a step back. "I'm on a diet" Bucky squints his eyes before observing her body, it was perfect and he wasn't sure why she was on a diet. "Okay.. we'll grab salad then?"
