“True devotion and humility is when you carelessly allow yourself to fall in love with things you consider will make you look inferior, which in essence, makes you superior.”

It was a chill breezy weekend when a lieutenant came from the front with news of war, some news not written in the newspapers, news that somehow they were all expecting it despite loathing to think about it. They dispatched three ambulance drivers and a medic, all who were not to return until called back.

Seokjin was outside of the villa, after hearing the news he was washing the lieutenant’s khaki Jeep when Taehyung showed up. A beautiful dazzling smile on his lips looking as beautiful as the gods and goddesses they sculpted in the past. Screw them. Screw them because Taehyung was above all the beauty and charm of all.

“Hello, love,” Taehyung said as he walked closer to where Seokjin and the Jeep were. “You look very handsome today,”

Seokjin smiled a soft smile. He could feel his cheeks puffing, seeing the younger boy made his day better, happier, lovelier. He was glad Taehyung showed up at that moment.

“What are you doing here?” he asked dearly, voice sweet and tender because how could he not when it was Taehyung standing in front of him.

“Is my soldier busy?”

“No, love. I only have to wash this car and then I will be free and available for you,” Seokjin said sweetly.

“Perfect,” Taehyung said with an obvious lovely excitement that made Seokjin’s heart sink in sugar, “I rented bicycles for us, so we can ride to the meadows where there are no people at all and it is only us, what do you think about it?”

“I think it sounds lovely.” Seokjin wanted badly to kiss Taehyung then, for he looked darling that morning. He wore a heavy sweatshirt that came down over his hands so that it was as if he wore mittens. His hair was windblown and his face rosy from the chill.

“Wait for me in the cafe,” Seokjin told him. “I'll finish here and clean up. So wait for me and I'll be there soon.”

Before Taehyung turned away, Seokjin put a hand on his wrist as if to keep him. He said, “If there were not many people around, I would kiss you.”

“Kiss me anyway.”

So Seokjin leaned closer and planted a soft kiss on the mole on Taehyung’s nose. Taehyung laughed then, smacked him away but his cheeks were rosy and beautiful as he sprinted away from Seokjin’s grip on his wrist.

It didn't take too long for him to wash and clean the car or somehow he rushed in a fast pace to finish the duty given to him. He walked to the cafe then, steps big and rapid, he didn't want to miss a moment without Taehyung. He entered the cafe, watched Taehyung as he was staring at the passersby beautifully and lovely. He felt happiness brimming inside him.

“Where is this meadow you want to go to?”

“Not far.”

“And we will go by bicycle?”

“Yes.”

They left the cafe.

“Can you ride one?” Taehyung teased. “If you can't, that's all right, you can ride on the back of mine.”

Seokjin laughed and put his arm around Taehyung’s waist. “I can ride one very well.”

The cycles Taehyung had rented came from an elderly man at the edge of town, who valued the army greatly. He told Seokjin as much when he saw him, able to tell immediately that he was part of the brigade.
