Hypersomnia is excessive sleepiness. There are many causes of excessive sleepiness, including insufficient or inadequate sleep, sleep disorders, medications and medical or psychiatric illnesses.

It is safe to say that self-diagnosing isn't the most appropriate way to deal with a problem but Shouta couldn't stop himself from looking up his symptoms on a random medical webpage just to find that definition that certainly suited him.

It still left a question unanswered: what was the cause of his hypersomnia ?

Certainly, Aizawa Shouta was a workaholic and he would push himself to extra hours that only increased his paycheck alongside his list of medical ailments.

However, being a programmer had its advantages (or at least he saw the fact that he could work from home as an advantage) because he wasn't the friendliest, most talkative employee out there and being able to avoid all that nonsensical small talk in the hallways was worth the isolation.

The downside ? Sometimes he wasn't sure of the time of the day it was or how many days it had been since the last time he ate properly or even showered. As disgusting as it could sound, he couldn't be bothered with showering every single day.

Between cigarettes and coffee, days went by and he would go from his bedroom to his studio, the bathroom and occasionally the kitchen.

-Doesn't he feel lonely ?- you might ask and the truth is that he was indeed lonely, it was an emotion as deep as an abyss but he was so used to it that sometimes it didn't even hurt.

It was night time, that was the only thing he knew for a fact due to the lack of sunshine so he decided to pull the studio courtains aside to let the moonlight bring some dim illumination to the dark room aside from the three bright screens on his desk.

Yet, once he gave himself a cigarette break by the window and his gaze fixed on the abandoned house next door, he couldn't help but feel something was off. This was not the first time he stood there staring at the many dark windows on that house, seeing nothing but old furniture left there by the previous owners, some broken glasses and perhaps one or two rats rushing across the backyard, nothing out of the ordinary.

But something felt off this time. Could it be just the new brand of cigarettes he bought ? Could nicotine give you anxiety ? He wasn't sure but he didn't care either so he discarded the odd feeling as part of cigarette consumption side effects.

Wait, could nicotine give you hallucinations ? Did he buy weed instead ? But weed doesn't give you hallucinations either, then why is he seeing a shadow inside the house ?
