"Dae Dae!! Anna!!" I heard a high pitched voice ring out from behind us. It was my stepsister's only actual friend, Chanel. Her parents were the nicest people I've met but they had horrible taste in names, for example, they named their dogs Kourtney, Khloe, Kylie, and Kim. It was funny sometimes though because they actually all treat 'Ms. Kar-Jenner' like their second names.
Daelyn and Annabelle ran to her as I made my ways up the stairs, only to be greeted by 4 flash photos from our yearbook crew, my sisters called them academic paparazzi. I waved them away and they split past me to find my sisters. I moped to my locker and opened it, revealing a green interior.
Are my sisters for real?
—
For the first week I avoided people and just focused on grades. Last year i joined my sisters in being social but if I'm being honest it was miserable, Chanel always picked on me and I never enjoyed talking to the various boys they made me converse with.

Putting my 4th period books away, I straightened my posture in order to make my way into the lunch room. The mirror on my locker door stared back at me. Slowly but surely, blemishes and discoloration appeared before my eyes. My face drooped at the sight. I slammed the medial door close and began down the hallway.
I spotted Daelyn waving me over and Annabelle with a less than satisfied look on her face when she saw me. "Hey Ella, how did the English test go?" Daelyn and me kept the peace incredibly well but I couldn't say the same about Annabelle.
"It went ok, I got stumped on some-"
"Guys look JJ is coming! Shush Ella!" She interrupted me, and I melted back into my seat, not wanting to be present. "Hi~" she waved with one hand, the other twirling some of her mocha golden hair.
"Hey, I was actually wondering if Ella wanted to go to get some pastries later." I perked up at the mention of my name.
"No, it's ok, she's busy. You could go with me." Anna desperately tried saving herself.
"I'd actually like to see what Ella has planned." His eyes landed back on me.
"I- uh- have nothing planned. I'd love to go get something to eat with you." I smiled at him.
"Great, could you put your number in my phone? I'll text you later about the details." He lifted his hand up a bit, which contained his phone. I nodded and he handed the phone over the table to me. My hands shook a bit as I put in my phone number.
"Here." I handed it back, hands still shaking a bit.
"Awesome, can't wait to see you later!" He beamed, and walked away. Daelyn gave me a thumbs up while Anna gave me a horrible stink eye, she has looks that could kill. In a Medusa way.
"Listen Anna," she put her finger over my mouth.
"We will deal with this later, right now I don't want to have to rip off your press ons because you get stupid sensory overload with them." I melted back into my chair and didn't talk to Anna for the rest of the day knowing what was coming when I got home.
