Case File: Summertime Blues

A month past since my graduation. It has been a relaxing summer for the most part. My gallery of baddies are all serving their time in jail now, no more school work to worry about and now waiting for replies from the colleges/universities that I applied for. During these past couple of days, I started to become bored.

I know, me living a double life, was BORED!?

Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of things to do this summer. A whole list actually! Part of that list included spending more time with the people around me, however, currently my guy-in-the-chair is out on a vacation with his family this week. And my girlfriend, MJ, is a counsellor at a camp for half the summer which leaves me with Aunt May.

My aunt May, though, has been busy at the F.E.A.S.T Center, assisting there as an on site healthcare nurse professional.

What is the F.E.A.S.T Center you ask? Well, it's basically a place for whoever needs food, shelter, or clothing. They also offer immediate medical or conselling services. Many other organizations and the funds from the city help facilitate this organization which is located in one of the poorer areas in town. I volunteer there at least once or twice a week; it would be more if my other extracurriculars weren't in the way!

Right now I am viewing the evening glow of the sun from my webbed made hammock.

I bunched up my backpack and hoody behind my neck before taking a drink from my soda bottle. My fingers found the warm pizza slice in the cardboard box beside me. After taking a bite, I let out a content sigh. I watched the lampost lights flicker on and some dwellings starting to do the same around me.

Bright stars covered half of the lit up sky; less citizens walked the streets below. My hand grasp air. I can't be already done my pizza!? I bolted up and shook the cardboard box. Sure enough, no more slices were left.

Curse the Parker money issues! I would have been able to buy two instead of one! I slammed the empty cardboard box on the concrete roof. Stupid super metabolism!

It was then I caught sight of the crescent moon reflecting on the window nearby, putting my frustration of the money issues aside.

It was in that moment, I realized that I could stay mad at my friends not being around or just enjoy the beauty of the summer night's sky.

I am letting the stars choose my fate for me tonight.

Whatever that will be.
