Dearest Diary,
I did say I will write to you tomorrow which is today. So I must say it was quite nice not having to be silent until 6 at night when the workers leave for the day.
We sat and had potatoes and beans for dinner. It was going good until we heard walking down stairs. I almost spit out my water in complete fear. Turns out it was just rats running around. I never thought they could be so loud! Sweet relief. Now it is 8 at night. I am writing to you dearest diary with a reading lamp over my shoulder. Anne is also writing her diary. She asked me if I could read some stuff in her diary and I agreed if I get to read some of hers as well. It was just nice to act a little childish rather than being the one who tries to keep the peace around here. I know mother gets upset that Anne doesn't want to do as she is told. She feels like our father Pim understands her better. They always tell her to set me as an example. Anne feels as though I'm not as strong of a character. Anne is seeming to be up in the attic more with Peter. Anne seems a little more distracted lately and I haven't seen much of a difference in Peter but he is in the attic for hours with Anne. Maybe tomorrow I will go see and try to see what's going on. Maybe she lets Peter read some of her diary. I am not jealous however I do wish I would be able to find someone whom I can share my thoughts and feelings to. I'm not likely to have a significant other during this crazy time in our world.
