Dearest Diary,
I decided to go up into the attic today as Anne nor Peter was up there and I wanted some quiet time to relax and practice my studies. I decided on sitting on the bag of potatoes that we haven't eaten yet.
After around twenty nine minutes of studying I get tired so I decided to write to you.
Around an hour later I hear this loud noise. I wake up instantly! I pray to the good lord that we haven't been discovered. It was a Friday night so no one is supposed to be downstairs especially at this time. Not only that but I realized that it was mid August. Being in hiding for so long you don't know what days are which. We only keep track by a little calendar in the kitchen. It says 1942 but it's now a year later. I'll have the occasional dream of what life was like two years ago. I can only think of the younger ones in hiding with us, Anne and Peter. The adults can handle it better. Anne is an extroverted person and she always needs something to do and gets bored very easily. I can however sit and read and book or study for hours without even before we went into hiding. Anne and mother think quite opposite on most things and my Pim (father) and Anne are able to get along much easier. I can understand mother and Anne's arguments. A minute later she'll come running to Pim and he will listen to her. Anne won't talk to me about it because she knows I'm the one keeping the peace and will take mother's side.
