Jhene:
"Chris?" I said quietly, almost in disbelief, everyone's attention immediately fell in his direction. He was barely out of the door yet his presence managed to command everybody's attention.

It had been four years since I'd physically seen him and there he was, in the flesh. He wore a pair of dark washed denim jeans, a fresh white t-shirt and a pair of red black and white Nike dunks, but he looked so different to how I last remembered him. His physique had gotten so much bigger that all the tattoos on his arms seemed to stand out even more. His hair had grown out into a small curly afro and he'd allowed his facial hair to grow, giving him a rough but more mature, grown man appearance.

He stopped mid stride when his eyes connected with mine. His gaze was smothering; enough to freeze me in that exact spot. Enough to clear my mind of all of its thoughts. It was in that moment that I felt a panging pain inside of my chest and my heart did that sinking thing again, like it was inside of my stomach instead of in my chest.

Asia's scream is what suddenly drew me back into reality "Daddy!" she jumped down from the chair and ran straight across the lawn, flying right into his arms.

"My baby girl!" Chris exclaimed as she knocked him back with a little more force than he expected. He picked her up and embraced her in a tight hug. Everybody stood and watched in awe at their reunion, myself included. "I love you princess; daddy loves you so much!" I overheard him say to her. It was in that moment I realised that I'd completely forgotten the sound of his voice, after so many years of not hearing it, it hadn't dawned on me that it had really been 4 years since I'd last heard it.

I felt somebody nudge my shoulder, when I looked to my right Kyra was stood beside me with tears briming her eyes, she gestured her head towards Chris, subtly telling me to go over to him. A part of me wanted to protest and let him and Asia have their moment but before I could even think, my legs had disobeyed me and were walking towards them, towards him.

Chris glanced my way as he noticed me approaching them, his brown orbs seemed to light up and then a small smile appeared across his lips, his dimples slightly revealing themselves.

Butterflies.

Big, nerve racking, butterflies swarmed the pit of my stomach. The closer I got to him, the more I felt uneasy and I could feel that nervousness making its presence known over my demeanour again.

I was the first one to break eye contact.

"Do you wanna cut your birthday cake?" I heard him ask Asia, his hand was rubbing her back in a soothing manor as she sobbed on his shoulder. Asia shook her head no and stayed with her face tucked in the crook of his neck. I noticed her little fists were holding onto him so tight, it was as if she was afraid that if she didn't, he'd disappear again.
