Ji-eun's pov

I watched as the expression on Sunghoon's face changed, his brows furrowing as he looked at his ringing phone. He tensed up, sighing as he got up, not answering the call.

"Is something wrong?" I finally asked, looking up at him with worry. He stuffed his hands in his pockets, putting his phone away with a scoff.

"I have to go...something came up." He answered blankly, fixing his eyes on the floor.

"Oh, okay. It's alright." I concluded, standing up, collecting my things, ready to leave since it was pretty late after all. It did bother me how a look of sadness washed over his face, the smile that was on his lips for the past hour, disappearing. The expression on his face toughened like how he was before, before I got to connect with him like this. Something seemed to be on his mind but I was afraid to ask. What if he'd think I was being nosy?

"Hey..." I whispered out, outstretching my hand, gently gripping onto his, making him look at me in surprise. "If there's anything bothering you, you can tell me, okay?" I said in a tranquil yet easing tone, flashing him a warm smile to assure him I really was worried about him. After all, he did listen to me when I needed someone beside me so it's only natural to help him in return.

He nodded, clasping our hands together as we both took in each other's comforting presence but sudden his phone began buzzing again making him pull away from me.

"I-" he sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

"I'll see you at school then." I concluded, understanding he had to go because whoever was calling his phone kept recalling and it was probably something important.

I waved him goodbye, walking out of the Ice Rink with a smile on my face, holding onto the pastel pink box with my dear life.

Sunghoon's pov

I answered my phone, sucking in a deep breath, ready for the scolding I was about to receive.

"WHERE ARE YOU?! WHY AREN'T YOU WITH YOUR PRIVATE COACH?! I DID NOT WASTE MY MONEY ON FIGURE SKATING LESSONS FOR YOU TO BE A DISAPPOINTMENT! GET HOME NOW!"

My father's voice roared through the phone which I held meters away from me, not wanting to damage my ear drums. I heaved a sigh, rolling my eyes at the man who kept pestering me, diminishing me and cursing me out. God if only mom was here...

After getting an earful from him, I took a taxi to get home.

Stepping foot into the house sent shivers down my spine and I could tell something bad was about to happen.

I casually strode into the living room, hoping to dear god that I wouldn't encounter my father but heck was I so out of luck. He was sitting in his designated chair, legs crossed and arms folded over his chest, staring at me earnestly.

I let out a scoff, fixing my posture as I walked out to him due to being called.

"You were with her weren't you?"

I tensed up a bit by the sudden seriousness in the atmosphere, certainly not expecting him to start off with that.

"I know you've been hanging out with that girl and don't be foolish enough to not expect me to know who she is!" He suddenly shouted out, getting up from his chair, towering over me.
