"Eds!" Richie exclaimed, looking at his friend with a wide grin when Eddie joined them on the roof. However, his grin dropped when he saw Daniel. "Ginger man."
Eddie scoffed and sat down on the blanket beside Richie and got the attention of his friends. "Everyone, this is my friend Daniel, his roommate Edwin, and their friends Katie and Aviana."
"Your friend Daniel?" Richie asked, possessively grabbing Eddie and hugging him. He was very stoned and in no state to filter himself at the moment. "Not boyfriend?"
Daniel chuckled at the reaction Richie had toward him. "Nah, just friends. We get along better as friends but the date was still fun."
Eddie smiled in appreciation as Edwin, Katie, and Aviana hit it off with the other losers and they started to smoke with Richie and Bev whereas Daniel grabbed a beer and began to chat with Mike.
Stan disappeared for a few minutes and returned with Ben, carrying four pizzas and set them down on the roof so they could all continue their tiny party. It was better than one of the frat parties; everyone knew each other and it was a protected environment.
"You're not going to smoke, Eds?" Richie asked, frowning.
Eddie scoffed. "Rich, you know I have asthma."
"Fake asthma."
"Using the inhaler makes me feel better. Besides, one of us has to be sober to get the other down the stairs. You're already fucked up so looks like it's my job."
Richie giggled and continued to hold Eddie's waist as he leaned back on the blanket he'd laid on the roof. He reclined so Eddie was settled between his legs with his head on Richie's stomach and they were both staring at the stars.
"It usually rains here," Richie murmured, sounding sober for the first time that night. "But when the stars are out... they're beautiful, but nothing can beat your freckles, Eddie."
Eddie blushed as he rolled his eyes. "Thanks, Rich."
"I'm glad you aren't dating the ginger. I get too jealous."
"How high are you?"
Richie groaned and gently slapped Eddie's forehead. "Stone cold sober."
"You're not going to remember any of this," Eddie commented and Richie just cackled, his chest vibrating beneath Eddie.
"Probably not," he mumbled. "I am a tiny bit crossed."
Eddie sighed, disappointment filling him up. He wasn't surprised, as he knew Richie would never actually admit to anything like that when they were both sober; neither could Eddie. There was some unspoken thing between them but neither would ever acknowledge it.
They stayed out until it was nearly one in the morning and much too cold to continue sitting out on the roof, and the ones who were high or drunk (or at least the ones who weren't completely wasted) helped guide the others downstairs.
Daniel and Edwin stayed in Eddie, Stan, Bill, and Richie's apartment out in the living room while Aviana and Katie stayed in the other one. It was the first night Bev got to spend with other girls and the three got along very well. Especially now that they were all stoned or drunk.
Eddie was in charge of Richie since Stan was taking on Bill. Daniel didn't bother getting high so he made sure Edwin was all good, but Edwin quickly passed out on the couch so he didn't have much to worry about.
"Eds, I'm so sweaty," Richie pouted as he laid down on his bed. "Can you turn on the fan?"
Eddie turned on the small fan that Richie had gotten for his nightstand and pointed it at his friend. "You're wearing a jacket, Richie. Of course you're going to be sweaty," he commented, helping Richie to take off his sweatshirt and jeans.
