When I lunged my knife, I missed and hit a vase. I leaped on top of my brother and right before I could jam the knife in his throat, Jackson blocked it with his hand, but even didn't scream or shout with pain. "It's not worth it. Trust me, I know" he said, his voice sounding distant. "You.. ANIMAL! We should have given you to the zoo!" I could hear my parents yelling out terrible things I thought I'd never hear from them especially to me. I couldn't blame them though. I almost killed their child. Of course they'de be scared or upset, but I couldn't help but feel betrayed so I let go of the knife and hugged Jackson as tight as I could. That was the only warmth I felt, and the more I squeezed, the more I felt safe and less betrayed. My parents didn't stop with the insults. "Shut up you lowlifes! At least she missed you, but noooo you were happy that she was gone! You people make me sick." Jackson shouted, then spat on the floor. He carried me home and I asked what he meant by what he said when I almost killed my brother. It seems that his grandfather was shot and placed on an alter when Jackson was six. So, out for revenge, Jackson killed the murderer's grandparents the same way that they killed his. He said he regretted and still regrets it for the rest of his life, so he doesn't want to put me through what pain he's fighting. I wish he would have told me sooner so I could help him fight it but hopefully I could help him now.
