03 - Busan

Have you ever got the feeling that you want something sweet after eating something spicy? And after you eat the sweet you need something spicy again? And then you mix all the flavors and gulp it down and at night you have to go to the washroom because your stomach is upset?

It was the fifth time she was using the washroom for the day. It has been a pretty bad day for her. Waking up in the morning she puked and then getting yelled at by the boss and then the landlord sending a warning letter. Getting slapped by the neighbor and then having a blast in the washroom

She was literally done with life. She sat on her couch and sighed. Life has been hard since she left Busan. It has been six months already. She left Busan because she found out her boyfriend got another lady pregnant. She was the best detective in the crime field and she resigned.

She wanted to start a new life in Seoul, forget about her crappy past and live happily. But she couldn't, her past would always follow her and she can't let go of it too. She rested on the couch and closed her eyes so she could sleep. The couch is better than the bed if you don't know

Suddenly she got a call, knowing who it was she sighed. It was none other than the landlord. She answered the call without glancing at the ID

"Mrs. Tina I told you I would pay the rent by tomorrow" she said 

"This is not Mrs.Tina" the caller said making her sit on the couch. She recognized the voice very well

"Chief Bogum?" She asked with a frown on her face

"Yes it is me Detective Lim" the chief said making her sigh

"Sir I'm not a detective anymore" 

"I know, but we can't forget the great services you've done for us. You were the best in our field" the chief said in a joyful way making her smile

"Thank you sir, can I know what's the emergency?" She asked. She knew he didn't call for nothing

"We need you back" he said making her sigh

"Sir I resigned for a reason" she said fidling with the hem of her sleeve

"I know Ms. Lim, but we need you here. Five kids were found dead over here, they were killed" the chief said making her frown

"What do you want me to do?" She asked

"Join our team for the last time. Once the case is covered I'll pay for your rent" the chief said making her cover her face in embarrassment 

"But sir-" she was cut off by him

"For the kids please" he said and she sighed

"When should I be there?" She asked standing up from her couch

"As soon as possible" the chief said "and detective Jung will be waiting for you" the chief said making her frown. They have already planned everything

"Ok sir" she declined the call and walked towards her room. She grabbed her bag and started stuffing the dresses she would need. She has a house in Busan which belonged to her mom so she planned in staying there for a while

She wore a shirt and grabbed an overcoat. Picked her bags she walked out of the house towards her garage. Getting in her car she buckled up. She turned on the engine and drove into the quite roads. It was dark outside. It was only 4.00 am and the streets are calm and quite. It would take four hours to reach Busan so she would be in the crime seen when the sun shows up

Turning on some music she bobbed her head for the beats. She remembered why she got slapped by the neighbor. The neighbor was a 26 year old girl and her boyfriend lives with her. She and her boyfriend would get along well but the neighbor is a total Karen. The karen girl thinks that she is gonna steal her boyfriend 

What happened was her boyfriend has never watched a movie in a theater. Can you believe it? He said the area he lived didn't have any theaters. The neighbor was gone for work at that time and she and the neighbour's boyfriend were free. So being the kind girl she was she offered to take him to the cinema

And they enjoyed their time in the cinema too. When they came back home his girlfriend slapped her saying that she is stealing him. But she let it pass cause if she slapped the neighbor she would have landed in the next city

She turned on the GPS although she knows the way to Busan. Three hours had already passed and she was tired. She saw a shortcut road she never knew in GPS. So she turned to the road. The road was a bit scary and freaky

There were tall trees that reached the sky. She felt like they reaches the sky. She drove along the road but suddenly her car stopped making her gasp

"What the hell Just happened?" She said trying to turn the engine on. She got of the car and opened the hood and suddenly a little smoke escaped making her cough

"Oh shit" she looked around the place and the sun was already up and the sky was filled with a pale blue color. She grabbed her purse and phone and closed the door. She checked her phone and unfortunately the phone has turned off

Sighing she walked forward abandoning her car hoping that there would be someone to help her. She walked and walked along the road and she felt weird. She felt as if the more she walks the road gets longer. Does that make sense?

She walked forward but stopped on her tracks when she heard someone move behind her. She turned around and frowned but continued walking forward. She heard the noise again making her stop and turn around. She inspected behind her but there was no one and nothing

"If a ghost is following me, come forward don't be a pussy" she said and continued her walking. She smiled when she saw a little house meters away. She quickly walked towards the house and rang the bell hoping that they would help

An old man opened the door with a big smile on his face "what can i do for you young lady?" The man asked looking outside

"Hello sir, I am Lim Ju-kyung and I was passing by. Unfortunately my car broke down do you know anyone who could help me?" She asked with a small smile on her face

"Ofcourse ms. Lim, come in It's cold outside" he said opening the door wider for her to enter

"Thankyou sir" she entered the beautiful house and removed her shoes. The man led her to the living room and asked her to take a seat

"Honey!!we have a visitor" the old man yelled making a old lady walk down the stairs

"Hello ma'am I am Lim Ju-Kyung" she said bowing at the lady and the lady did the same. Her husband explained Ju-kyung's situation and the lady ushered her husband out to make the car

"So darling what do you do for work?" She asked pouring Ju-kyung some hot tea

"I am a resigned officer and now I work for the JYP company as a reporter" she said making the lady smile

"That's good so do you have any kids" 

"Oh I don't ma'am, I'm not in a relationship" she said making the lady frown

"Why not? You are young and you might have men chasing behind you. Just give a man a chance to prove himself" the lady said playfully hitting her shoulder making her chuckle

"I'll try to" she said. Few minutes after chatting the old man came back to the house

"Ms. Lim, your car has no problem. It was working well" he said making her frown

"But it stopped in the middle of the road" Ju-kyung said making the man frown too "It's ok sir, thankyou for helping and sorry for the inconvenience. I have to get going now. Thankyou for the hospitality" she bowed at them several times and the couple led her out of the house. She waved at the old couple and walked back towards her car

She noticed her car from far and ran towards it. She got in and turned the car on and it worked. She frowned but shrugged it off. Maybe the car had a short breakdown. She turned on her GPS and drove for her destination

She reached the crime scene and inmediately got off the car when she saw many policeman walking around. She walked towards a familiar figure and tapped his shoulder. The yound man turned around and his eyes widened

"Julie you are here" the man hugged her making her hug him back

"I missed you too Hoseok" they broke apart and smiled at each other "so what happened here?"
