Chapter 17

Naomi's P. O. V:

Another week passes and I have been going on more missions both with Giyu and just by myself. I also hear Tanjiro is progressing really well with his training, and that Zenitsu and Inosuke were once more trying the rehabilitation training.

Giyu and I had awoken the following morning and were finishing up from breakfast. I was washing up the dishes with Giyu when he says, "That was delicious, Naomi-chan. Thank you."

I give him a closed eye smile as I reply, "You're welcome."

"You know, you don't have to cook all the time. I could do it every once in awhile," Giyu offers.

I say, "It's okay. I don't mind at all. I love cooking."

Giyu presses a kiss to my cheek as he says, "And I really love your cooking."

I giggle softly at that as we resume our washing up.

Suddenly, our Kusagai crows arrive.

"Naomi and Giyu, you're to team up to defeat a demon in a forest outside a town one day from now! People have been disappearing at night, into the forest! Caw, caw!" Aira says as Giyu's crow affirms it.

They take flight and Giyu and I head to our destination.

On our way out, we bump into Shinobu. "Oh, good morning, Giyu, Naomi-nee-chan. Are the two of you heading off into battle?"

I reply, "We are. It's another joint mission."

"You've been on lots of missions together as of late. Well, good luck and be careful," Says Shinobu.

"We will," Giyu responds before we make our way out of the Butterfly Estate, then we start leaping through the trees for our destination.

By the time we got there, the sun has gone down. Giyu and I gaze around the dark forest. I try picking up the demon's scent.

"Anything?" Giyu asks.

"No. Let me try something," I say. I hold out my arms as I murmur, "Crystal Breathing, Ninth Form, Earth, Amber: Seismic Sense!"

I send out my power in the earth and focus on feeling the vibrations. I can sense even the ants crawling on the ground. Eventually I pick up a vibration of what feels to be a demon, about five feet tall.

"Got it! It's this way!" I say, and Giyu follows after me as I keep using this technique to find the demon. I spot the male demon ahead after running for awhile.

Giyu and I unsheath our swords as we leap into the air, preparing to attack the demon. It jumps out of the way, avoiding both our attacks as we bring our swords down.

"Demon slayers, huh? Shouldn't be too difficult," The demon says.

"Crystal Breathing, Second Form: Rainbow Burst!" I send out a sphere of rainbow crystals that explode in the demon's face. The force throws it back as Giyu looms before it, aiming to cut off its head.

The demon dodges that too only to avoid my own attack. Giyu and I attempt to slash the demon with our swords, but we couldn't seem to land a hit.

I use my Crystal Dust technique to appear beside demon and I end up cutting off its hand. I aim to swing for its chest but it jumps backwards. I backflip while popping out one of my small blades, which narrowly missed the demon.

"Water Breathing: Constant Flux," Giyu says and sends out a dragon of water at the demon. It narrowly evades it as well as my Rain of Ice technique.

"It was a big mistake coming after me, demon slayers. I have a powerful Blood Demon Art that not even you can evade," The demon says.

"What do you mean?" I query.
