In her younger years, Naomi was a kind child who would always smile and have a warm aura about her. She has a strong sense of justice, like her childhood friend, Giyu Tomioka, and always goes out of her way to save others, even if it puts her own life at risk.
Naomi may have saved Nezuko Kamado's life, but she doesn't hesitate when killing other demons. Despite her warm personality, Naomi has a hatred for demons that runs deep. That aside, Naomi, along with Giyu, volleyed the Demon Slayer Corps' code of conduct when she helped protected Nezuko during Shinobu's attempt to kill her.
While she initially hates demons for what they'd done to her family, Naomi's view on them may change to what she'd witnessed with Nezuko two years ago. When they reunite at the Master's estate for the trial, Naomi is revealed to have an attachment to Nezuko, and is willing to fight anyone who harms her. Naomi only became happy after meeting Sabito and because her 21 year old deceased brother had asked Naomi to always keep smiling and be happy, no matter how dark times may seem, so she honours his request.
Naomi and Giyu have been together since they started training under Sakonji Urokodaki. Naomi has been like Giyu in the beginning but started to open up after meeting Sabito, who's scolded both Giyu and Naomi for thinking such things after their families gave everything to save them.
When Sabito and Makomo both died in the Final Selection, Giyu and Naomi have been inseparable ever since. Whenever she'd catch Giyu self loathing over their teammate's losses, Naomi would remind him of what Sabito said and that they have each other now. She'd also always urge Giyu to keep living for her, as she is for him.
When Naomi became a demon slayer, and later, Hashira, she took on her mother's surname, Suishou, because she's now the new Crystal Hashira. Though, her real name is Naomi Suishou Homura.
Giyu has described Naomi as a warm presence he feels safe around, and Tanjiro Kamado has thought similar, stating that he feels very calm around Naomi.
Naomi has a strong friendship with Shinobu Kocho, though she's always annoyed with Shinobu teasing her and Giyu—especially when it comes to their love life. Naomi is an expert at ignoring Shinobu's other pokes.
Naomi gets along with most of the other Hashira, but even Iguro, much like the rest, become fearful of Naomi whenever she's angry. Even their Master can be terrified of her. She's stated to be one of the scariest Hashira. Naomi may lack the physical strength to decapitate a demon, but in most of her outbursts towards her old friend Sanemi, he'd commented that her punches are extremely powerful, though he isn't sure if her punches hurt more than her kicks.
Kanao Tsuyuri is usually quiet but she feels safe enough around Naomi to talk to her without flipping her coin.
