The sky was cloudy, grey, the air cold. It's no surprise in these parts. Most of the year, it's cold, snowing even, the town usually covered with snow, sometimes just a few snowflakes, other times layers of snow.
The same with the small town of L'Manburg, and forest by it made of beautiful spruce trees, going all the way to the ocean. The town itself is pretty average, not too small, not too big, a few crimes here and there but not that much.
The forest was giant one would say, any one who didn't know could easily get lost. Most of the town folks knew it well enough to not get lost when they go on a walk there.
You could say that one of those people is also Connor, he loves going for walks, especially to nature.
He smiled, listening to all the sounds around him, the crunching leaves, wind speeding between the trees, quick footsteps of someone running, the bugs buzzing, wait.
That's not right
Though Connor,
Why would someone be running through a forest?
Yeah, there are countless reasons why, but Connor felt like something was wrong. He followed the sounds that were leading him deeper into the forest.
The boy ran, his footsteps light and quiet, soon enough he was climbing a tree. He watched the unknowing animal. The small hog was currently eating, presumably some shrooms that were growing under the tree, perfect time for him to strike.
He took an arrow from a small case on his back, loading his bow. He closed one of his eyes, aiming for the animal. When he was positive the arrow would hit it, he released it from his hand and let it fly.
However, unfortunately for the boy, the jog just had to move and avoid the shot. Of course the poor animal got scared and started running away.
"Dammit."
He muttered under his breath and jumped off the tree. Right after he regained his balance, he started sprinting after his prey.
He needed to get it.
Not only for food, since there is quite enough back at his home, but he needed it for his pride.
He wasn't gonna get outsmarted by a stupid animal, no, not today. He was better than this, he was gonna win.
He stopped when he was the animal stop, probably thinking it's safe again. He pulled out an arrow and aimed again, this time, making sure he'll hit it.
"Come on, come on.." he whispered as he watched the arrow fly, hoping it would hit this time.
"Yes!" He smiled as he hit his target.
However what he didn't expect was to hear a scream, a human scream. He thought he was alone for the whole time, was someone following him?
He looked around quickly, spotting something he didn't want to. A man standing there, in a blue hoodie with brown hair. His eyes widened, seeing an adult, he didn't know what to do.
"Hey..?" The man asked, his eyes on the boy.
He didn't say anything back, he just started running, not bothering to take his prey, not the arrow, he just needed to get out of there as quickly as possible.
He didn't want to go back, ever.
