PART FOUR.

DECEMBER 22ND.

Yesterday I didn't leave my room all day. I was just too scared to even look Louis in the eye, to even pass through him in the corridors, to even think that he was packing and leaving his room at the palace, the place he told me he was getting used to living in.

I just couldn't.

But today, today was a new day and I couldn't postpone talking to him any longer.

I made up my mind and walked outside, knowing I would find him in the rose garden.

And indeed there he was.

I saw his beautiful hair shining under the sun rays and I felt my chest shrinking.

Why am I so stupid?

I ran to where he was and wrapped my arms around his waist from behind him, making him jump because of the scare.

"Oh God." - He breathed out and I noticed I made him agitated.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." - I mumbled against his shoulder from his back.

"It's okay, you just scared me."

"No, Louis." - I said and turned him around by his waist. - "I'm sorry for not picking you, for eliminating you. I shouldn't have."

"It's fine, Harry." - He smiled and turned around again, continuing with what he was doing before.

"No, it's not. I actually didn't want to…"

"It's okay, Harry. I wasn't expecting to last much longer either."

"What?"

"I knew from the beginning that I wasn't enough for you." - He shrugged, still not facing me.

"Why do you say that? You're enough! I know it."

"It's fine, Harry. I'm not mad or sad. It was fun while it lasted though."

"But Louis, I didn't want to let go of you. It wasn't my decision." - I said, trying to get him to look at me.

"What do you mean?"

"It was my mother." - I sighed. - "She told me that I couldn't marry you, that I couldn't keep you in the contest. And if I did she would have left you without your job. I'm really sorry, but I knew how much you need this for your family, I didn't want to jeopardize your job."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"She doesn't like me at all, does she?" - He laughed bitterly.
