Claire
I wake up to the sound of my annoying alarm clock. Even though I'm only turning 17, it feels like I'm turning 1 million years old because of one evil word- school.
School has always been the thing I've hated because of the people there. I don't mind the actual learning part of it because it is surprisingly the least stressful for me.
People seem to not like me because they always think that I'm some sort of stuck-up, spoiled girl, which is not true, though. I'm just really quiet, so it's easy for people to start rumors about me.
Because of the way I'm judged (from doing nothing), I don't have very many friends. And a lot of them aren't really my friend. So there's really only a few people, and my best friend, Stacy. Whom I just get a text from, saying:
happy bday loser 🎁👊
Yep, I sure can feel the love. I don't even bother to reply to her as I get up and slip into my clothes for the day. I hop into my bathroom and slap on some makeup, which normally isn't much.
I head into the kitchen and grab a bagel. I hug my parents before I leave as they tell me happy birthday. I thank them, grab my keys, and walk out the door.
I plug my headphones into my phone and blast Maroon 5 as I drive to school. Oh Adam, you are absolutely gorgeous.
I pull into the parking lot of my school and grab my backpack. I walk inside and, of course, it overflows with students. I can barely even make it into first period because it's so crowded. As I start to walk towards my locker, I notice Stacy walking towards me.
"Hey, did you get my text this morning?" Stacy curiously asks.
"Yeah, I did," I reply.
"Well I could've at least gotten a thank you."
"Okay, thank you."
"That wasn't very enthusiastic," she replies.
"Whatever." I rush towards my first period class with a minute to spare. Right after I walk into the door, the bell rings.
"Phew!" I say as my teacher stares at me in disbelief because I wasn't late.
I start to pull out my homework when I see Josh- an old sweetheart- walk into the class, along with like, 7 other girls, drooling over him.
Ugh, I wish I could slap that stupid smirk on his face. He has all the friends that he could ever have and has hooked up with at least 12 different girls. He passes by a couple of girls as he walks to his seat. They blush.
He walks by me and I get whiff of his strong cologne. It causes me to cough.
Not much really happens- we just do a bunch of boring work and the typical math and stuff. Once that class ends, I walk towards my locker as I see an arm at the corner of my eye.
"Bitch alert," Cole my bully, shouts. "So what mean thing do you have to say about me today?!"
He slams me up against my locker, waiting for my reply.
"Nothing," I simply reply.
"Yeah, I doubt that," he says right as I see a fist coming towards me. I block my face with my arms. And guess what happens next:
*pause*
Exactly- nothing happens. No punch or anything.
I open my eyes to see Josh shoving him away from me.
"DON'T TOUCH HER," Josh threatens.
Cole tries to throw a punch at him, but Josh catches his fist and twists it until you can basically hear a bone snap.
"OH SHIT!" Cole screams in horror as he runs away.
"What the hell was that?" I furiously ask Josh.
"Saving your ass," he whispers in my ear and jogs away.

I walk to the lunch table to see Stacy sitting there, eating only a salad.
"Big lunch, I'm guessing," I say sarcastically as I sit down.
"You know I'm trying to lose weight!"
"You don't need to lose weight- you're a stick," I explain.
"I am not!" she yells.
"Whatever..." I bite into my sandwich and see Josh walking towards us.
"Okay, he can't be walking towards our table!" Stacy assures.
"Well, apparently he is," I groan as he sits down. I look at him and he smiles. I raise an eyebrow and act like he's not there.
"Are you going to say hi?" he asks.
I raise my eyebrow and ignore him, again.
"You are a harsh woman," he says, offended.
"Why are you all of the sudden trying to save my ass when you've acted like I didn't exist before?" I blurt out.
"Because I've always cared about you, Clara," he replies.
"Well clearly not- and my name is Claire," I say as I storm out.
