Everything was normal that morning, The Captains lecture about the absurd amount of noise in the night, and the soldiers becoming uninterested in anything the Captain had to say. And yet it became unusual when lieutenant Havers burst through the door. He appeared to be clutching an envelope with bold letters on the front. He vigorously marched towards the hardwood desk that Teddy (who was better known as Captain) was stood behind. Leaning over he gestured to the Captain to take it from his hands, the same hands he used to sign the contract from Germany.

Captain began to deduce it was something important by the look on his face. Tearing open the envelope, his heart dropped, it was almost like he knew what was going to happen. "France have surrendered..." he paused as it sunk in. "The Germans are coming!" Captain began to panic.

This was his chance. He pressed his pocket knife deep into his back. Havers eyes widened when he realised. He frowned as a tear rolled down his cheek. His skin became as white as a ghost. He could not possibly be in pain. Captain pulled the knife out as he remembered, wasn't red Havers' favourite colour?

His body became limp as he was lowered to the floor by the man he once knew. "What have I done..." he pleaded as he held his Second in Command's head to his chest. "Rest easy, William. I could be joining you sooner than you think."
"Don't worry, you are already here..."
