"J King Holdings?"
Rona's eyes widened.
"Mom, why there?"
"Why do you look so surprised?"
"Why would you apply for a job there, mom?"
"Why not? Aren't you happy that if I get accepted, I would work for a huge company?"
"I am but..."
"But what, Rona?"
"But..."
Rona couldn't think of any reason to tell her mother.
What should I tell her?
Yoonhee raised her eyebrows at her daughter, waiting for her to continue talking.
"I... I don't feel good about that company. What if they like um,"like get involved in an issue.. something like that."
"They're a big company, Rona. Why would they do something that could damage the company's reputation? If I work there I will be able to buy you anything you want."
"Mom, I already told you you don't have to buy me anything. I don't need those," Rona said in a calm voice.
"And we might even get to live in Hera Palace? Don't you want to live there?"
"No, I don't want to live there," she gave a straight answer
"Why?"
"Just because."
Rona scratched the back of her head. She is starting to get frustrated, not with her mom but herself because she can't even think of a good excuse for her mom to not apply to that company. Rona stared blankly at her plate as she began to sink into her thoughts.
Is this how she felt when she didn't want me to audition in Cheong-A? I can't seem to convince her of the reason I told her. Should I just tell her everything? How? Like.. mom, I know you wouldn't believe this but we are transported back to the past then---
Her thoughts were interrupted when her mother said something.
"I want to live there for at least before I die."
Rona's eyes grew wide and her heart skipped a beat. She looked up to see her mom. "Mom, how could you say something like that?!"
Yoonhee looked up from her plate and was shocked to see the serious look on her daughter's face. She kinda meant it as a joke, but apparently Rona took it seriously.
"I was just joking, Rona-yah."
"That's not a good thing to joke about, mom. You will never work for that company." Rona stood up from her seat and started to pick up the dishes they used..
"But that's a good opportunity, Rona," Yoonhee said, trying to convince her daughter, but Rona did not bother to respond to that.
Yoonhee watched as Rona carried the dishes towards the sink. "And I already sent my application form."
Rona placed the dishes in the sink and then breathed out a deep sigh before turning to her mom. She stared at her mother for a second before asking, "Mom, is money the problem?"
"I will help," Rona said before Yoonhee had the chance to answer. "I can find a job while I study. We won't need a lot of money for the both of us."
"Why would you look for a job? I should be the one working for us, Rona-yah."
"Mom, we're in this together. There are jobs out there that I can do. So please don't ever think about applying to that company. I beg you mom. Please."
