Rona's eyes snap open, her heart beating fast, out of breath.
"Was that a dream?" She asks, confused. "Ahh." She grabs her head. "Why does my head hurts so much?"
She closes her eyes for a moment to calm down and opens them again when her breathing kind of improved.
She looks around. "Where am I?"
With wide eyes, "W-Why am I here? How---" she says and almost worried then hears someone familiar humming a song.
"Eo-Eomma?"
She gets up immediately and rushes into the kitchen.
"Oh, Rona-yah. You are finally awake."
She finds her mother who seems to be preparing breakfast. She looks at her mother from head to toe. Short hair, a scar on the left side of her neck, wearing a simple white shirt and a beige sweatpants.
"Come on, let's eat. You'll--"
"Eomma? Am I dreaming? Or am I in heaven?"
"What? You, silly girl. What are you talking about?" Yoon-hee laughs.
Rona walks over to her mother to hug her. Yoon-hee is surprised by her daughter's sudden action. Rona breaks the hug and takes her mother's hands.
"Pinch me, mom."
"What's wrong with you today?"
"Just do it mom. Please," she begs, tears began to form in her eyes.
Yoon-hee laughs and pinches her daughter's cheeks.
"Are you satisfied now, my cute daughter?" She says playfully while pinching her daughter's cheeks.
"Uhh, t-that's enough now mom," Rona says then massages both of her cheeks.
I'm not really dreaming?
"Aigoo. Let's sit down and eat. You'll be late for school. You have practice after school, don't forget," Yoonhee reminds her daughter as she sits down in front of the dining table.
"Practice? For what?" Rona asks and also sits in the chair opposite her mother.
"Yes, to prepare for the admission test," Yoonhee replies.
"A-Admission test?"
She knows what her mother meant about it, but she still asked to be sure.
"For Cheong-A Arts High School. I fully support you so you have to do your best. I bet--"
"I'm not going," Rona says, not looking at her mother.
"What? What do you mean?" Yoonhee asks her daughter.
"I will not go to the admission test. And I will not study in that school," Rona answered with a firm voice.
"What?! Are you being serious, Rona-yah? You wanted to study there, but why the sudden change of mind?"
"I'm not really going there, Mom. Yes, I've.. I've changed my mind. I won't sing any more. I-I'll take law, you said you want me to take that, right mom?"
Yoonhee, stunned at her daughter's words, began to worry.
"Rona, I'm sorry about what I said before. I really support you now, really, Rona-yah."
"Mom, it's not your fault that I changed my mind. I just realized that singing is not for me. And who knows what else Ms. Cheon will do to you?"
"Cheon Seojin?"
"Oh, I mea--"
"Don't worry about her, Rona-yah. I will not let her do anything to us, especially to you. I'll make sure she never touches you, not even a strand of your hair. That Cheon Seojin is a weakling. She can't do anything without her father."
Why wasn't she surprised after I mentioned Ms. Cheon's name? Have they already met each other? I hope not.
"W-We already m-met her?"
"Yes, don't you remember how I swung the trophy in her face?" Yoonhee proudly says as she reenacts what she did to Seojin before. Rona's eyes widen.
So Ms. Cheon already knows about our existence? No. I should keep mom away from her.
"Rona? Are you okay?"
"Mom, I'm really determined not to go there. I won't change my mind either. I'm sorry, mom."
I don't mind giving up on everything if it's the only way to keep her by my side. She's more important to me than anything. Success or whatever, if she isn't with me, it's all useless.
Whatever is going on right now, I don't know, but what's more important is... I got her back. I got my mom back.
