it was around 3 pm and everyone was just doing their work as usual, Minho, Ben and Y/n were out in the maze tracking it and looking for anything they could find to get out, even after 3 years they still hadn't found a way out, there wasn't a way out, and of course no one else knew about that, but y/n still have a bit of hope that she could find the key to the way out of this cursed place, all she had was hope, but not enough to find anymore clues to find the way out. They decided to head back for the day since it was starting to get a bit late and the maze would close soon. They ran back to the glade and y/n had started talking to newt, her best friend.
They were the closest in the glade mainly because y/n was the first one in the glade and Newt had been the second one up, they weren't dating, they never would. they thought of each other as brother and sister, they loved each other, just not like that, even if the other gladers didn't believe them at all.
As Y/n and Newt were talking and laughing together they were interrupted by the sirens that signaled that the box was on its way up, every one in the glade gathered around the box anticipating the view of the new glader they would meet in less than 5 minutes.
"Gally" Y/n said as she nodded her head towards the box opening, signalling Gally to open up the box and reveal the fresh meat.
-YOUR POV-
Gally had opened the box and there he was... the new glader... its like time had paused as soon as you saw his face. everything was in slow motion and he looked you in the eyes and you could tell the same thing was happening for him. His face looked so familiar yet so new, you had no clue of who he was, when he had made eye contact with you you felt butterflies in your stomach. you knew exactly what was happening. you had fallen for a boy that doesn't even know his own name in the same amount of time it took for Gally to jump into the box. you were pulled out of... whatever was going on with you, by the sound of Gally's voice and it looked like the boy in the box had been pulled out of it too, "Day one, Greenie, rise and shine" Gally says to the boy as he holds out his hand so he can pull him up and out of the box.
-NORMAL POV-
After Gally had pulled up the Greenie from the box, everyone had started crowding around him and he got overwhelmed and ran for it, he sprinted away "we've got a runner!" one of the gladers had yelled as the boy took off. He had fallen down and face planted, knocking himself out after tripping on a rock.
-GREENIE'S POV-
He had woken up in a small cell type thing when he saw someone come toward the 'cell' he was in he knew it was one of the people that had crowded around him before he took off running but he didn't know his name of anything about him. He got more nervous as the Boy crouched near the entrance of the 'cell', "should be let him out of the pit yet?" he said facing... 'Her. the girl from before, the one that made time freeze, the one i had fallen for in such a small amount of time'. he was pulled from his thoughts as she said something back to the boy crouching near 'the... Pit? did he say?'. "Let me speak to him first" she spoke nudging the boy out of the way so she could speak to the Greenie.
-Y/N'S POV-
"i'm Y/n, i kinda run everything around here. do you remember anything? about your self? your life?" you said asking the Greenie, "uh.. no. no- w-why- why cant i remember anything?" the boy said with growing a mixture of emotions, "hey. hey, its alright. it happens to u all. you'll get your name back in a couple days... its the one thing they let u keep." you said back to the panicked boy, "what is this place?" he said curiously but scarred at the same time, "this, my friend... is the glade" you told him while looking out at all the green grass, bushes and all the gladers doing their jobs "i can show you around if you like? as long as you promise you wont run off again" you give a small smile and he nods in response.
You let him out and start to walk him around the glade explaining the main things he needs to know and go up the tree house thing (idk what its called, i'm sorry) "we only have 3 rules, they are what keeps us together. Number one: Never go outside the glade, unless your'e a runner. Number two: Never harm another glader, you have to trust each other. Number three: Everyone does there part, we don't have time for slackers" the boy nods to you as you say each rule.
you look down to the ground and see chuck waving for you to come down. you and the Greenie come down and chuck tells you "we need some help getting things ready for the party" (idk what the party thing was called either, i'm sorryy), "alright, thanks chuck ill be there in a second" you reply and chuck nods and goes back to some of the others. you look around to see if you can find Newt so he can take care of the Greenie while you help chuck, when you spot him you wave him over and he jogs to you
"Newt, this is the new Greenie. Greenie this is Newt, hes in charge when i'm gone." you say introducing Newt to the new arrival, "well its a good thing your'e always around, then" Newt says back with a chuckle causing you to let out a slight laugh, as you did, you saw the Greenie looking at you studying your face and the way you laugh. before anyone could see you blush you spoke up again "anyway, i need you to look after the Greenie for a while. i gotta help out chuck." you ask your best friend, "alright. sure. just don't leave me with him too long!" he chuckles back, "alright! thanks Newt. Cya round Greenie!" you say starting to walk away but still looking at them.
