When Armando awoke to the sunlight hitting his face, The Boy was no where to be seen. He stood and tied his hair back with a pastel pink hair tie. After brushing his teeth and trying to fix his hair, he went downstairs to find Georgina sitting on the lilac sofa, reading from a thick, black book. Her glasses sat slightly crooked on her nose.
"Good morning Ms. Wells.." he rubbed his eyes and sat on a blood red seat with leaf embroidery covering it.
"Good morning Armando. I apologise for not being here last night. Henry needed me to look after his granddaughter. I hope you slept well."
"Yes ma'am..I slept pretty well..no nightmares..no dreams.." Armando said, covering his mouth as he yawned loudly. Georgina's lips curled into a small smile, her eyes giving way to a small glow.
"I'm glad Armando. Would you like something to eat? You need food to function properly." Armando's head shot up and he stared at the woman. "Armando, please eat. It's required in my household." The familiar sound was gone and Armando nodded.
"Food sounds nice ma'am." Georgina stood and straightened her skirt before walking to the kitchen. Something about her seemed different. What it was though, Armando didn't know.
The afternoon came by and Georgina sent Armando outside, encouraging him to explore the grounds. He went around the gardens, slipping through small gaps in the hedges. Thorns, small flowers and holly stuck out from the maze and plants. Hours ticked by and he became lost in the serenity of the grotto behind the house. He watched worms poke through the soft earth and the small frogs hop from one stepping stone to another, catching the tiny movements out of the corner of his eye. Rain dripped from the leaves of the tall trees that formed a canopy over the backyard. Water fell onto Armando's skin and clothes, making his shiver from the cold sensation.
"It's cold today..it's foggy..I like it like this.." Armando looked up at the greyscale sky and sighed, staring at the dim halo of the sun behind the clouds. "So fucking beautiful..heh..wonder if that weird kid likes the rain.."
Soon the rain began again and Armando sat beneath a tree, watching the water splash onto the stones, the dirt, the leaves. The gentle clap of the rain put him at ease and the young man let his guard down. A calm, gentle feeling took over his body and Armando closed his eyes, just letting the sound echo in his mind. And then it hit him.
Georgina wasn't who she said she was.
