"Ivy, if you don't get up you're walking to school!" My sister Dani yelled. She barely drives me to school, so it wasn't like I cared.

"I'm coming." I replied. Quickly, I put on a sweatshirt, jeans, and sneakers. Then I started putting my hair into a ponytail; it's not like I'm impressing anyone. "Okay I'm ready to go." I said, running down the stairs.

"She left a few minutes ago." My brother Cam said while yawning. "If you want, I can drive you to school." He suggested.

"Thanks." I said gratefully.  I can always count on my brother Cam to help me out, sometimes Danielle can be a she-devil. During the car ride Cam and I argued about pancakes and waffles.

"Everyone knows that waffles are way better than pancakes." Cam insisted.

"Oh really, then why is it that people mostly eat pancakes?" I countered. Before Cam could respond we arrived at the school. "Well looks like I win this argument, big bro." I said triumphantly. Cam hates to lose so it was fun to watch him glumly drive back home. As I was running to my homeroom, I notice a crowd of girls surrounding someone. I didn't stop to see who the person was since I couldn't afford being late. The people in detention are creepy and weird. When I walk into my homeroom some popular boys  and the jocks started whistling  while mostly all the girls in my homeroom started glaring at me.

"Ivy, why didn't you go to my party last Friday, I wanted to see you." Xavier says, smiling brightly.

"Xavier, I'm going to say this as nicely as possible." I say while making eye contact. " You always smell like trash and no girl in her right mind would ever swoon for a guy who can't even count to ten." I tell him sweetly.

"Ice queen strikes again." some boys say while laughing. Most girls like getting attention from boys, but I don't so I ignore them and tell them I'm not interested. When I sat down on my seat I over hear the two of the most shallowest girls in tenth grade conversation.

"Hey did you hear about the hot new kid?" Bree Williams ask Payton Smith.

"Yep, he winked at me when I was exiting Mr. Monroe's office." Payton bragged.

"Lucky." Bree pouted. Don't girls have something better to do other than talking about boys. After homeroom I walked to my geometry class, and notice a boy I've never seen before talking to Mrs. Sanders. He was a little tan, with tousled golden brown hair, and had the most gorgeous hazel eyes. He's probably the guy all of the girls are talking about. To be honest he looked like one of those spoiled, rich, and bit of a player type of guy. It's bad to judge people, but I'm usually never wrong. When I sat down at my seat the bell ring.

"Class I would like to introduce James DeMarco, he will be with Aldridge High for the rest of the school year." Mrs. Sanders announce. "James, can you sit next to Ivy?" Oh great, I get to sit next to the new kid.

"Hi, I'm James." the new kid says, while winking.

"Like I care." I mumbled, while rolling my eyes.

"So 'Like I Care,' what does a pretty girl like you do for fun in this boring town?" James asked, while smirking.

"Nothing of your concern, and if you don't mind I would like to know what Mrs. Sanders is saying so can you shut up." I guess he wasn't used to girls not fawning over him since he looked a little taken aback. I guess being cold towards him worked, because for the rest of the class he was quiet and was staring at as if he was analyzing me. After class ended he started walking with me.

"Since I'm new can you showed me around sweetheart?" He says flirtatiously. When he said sweetheart, it was my turn to be taken aback.  When he noticed this, he smirks at me while waiting for my answer. The only person who called me that, was the person I hated most. I was so not letting this loser think he's won another conquest.

"No, go ask some girl who's actually interested." I tell him bluntly while walking away from him. "And one more thing DeMarco, never ever call me sweetheart again." I say coldly.  At lunch, I sat alone as usual outside on the bench next to the garden in school. I didn't have friends in Aldridge because guys only like me for one thing and girls are just typically jealous of me for no reason. I didn't really care about being alone, since I was used to it when I was little. I like peace and quiet, it gives me time to think. Usually when people see me, they think I'm one of those bubbly and sweet girls without a care in the world since I had blonde hair and blue eyes, but really I'm self conscious and sarcastic. As I started reading my favorite romance novel The Notebook, I hear footsteps walking towards me from behind. Then out of nowhere two hands cover my eyes.

"Guess, who?" a familiar male voice ask.

"Didn't I tell you to leave me alone DeMarco?" I questioned harshly.

"You're breaking my heart, sweetheart." He pouted as he acted as if he was hurt.

"I told you not to call me that." I said annoyed.

"I know, but when you're mad your ears start turning red." He smirked. This guy is really irritating.

"My ears do not turn red." I said glaring.

"Oh really, then why are they turning red now?" He chuckled. I don't even know this guy well, and I already have him on my hate list.  Fed up with this guy, I start walking back to the school. "Where are you going sweetheart?" He said, catching up to me

"Somewhere far away from you." I retorted.

"Wherever my sweetheart goes, I will follow." James says unaffected to my harshness.

"Wow, do you say that to every girl you meet." I said while walking up the stairs.

"Only the prettiest ones." He says charmingly, did he really expect me to be flattered?

"You are such a player." I sneered, when I got to history I watch James walk to his class with girls tailing him. Yep, I was totally right when I first saw him. Guys like him can't be trusted.
