"Keres!" I half whispered and half yelled his name. I laughed and hugged him tight. I was at my happiest when I was with him.
"Nai,tonight killed me, my mom wanted me to meet everyone in the kingdom." he said with pouty lips.
As much as I wanted to be happy for Keres I couldn't help it when my face fell as he mentioned tonight's party.
A look of worry came over his face as he noticed my own look of sadness. "What happened?" I might have imagined it but it almost seemed like he was ready to kill the person that had made me sad like this.
"It was Damara," I said and Keres visibly deflated, all of the wind seemed to leave his sails. "She made some comments about my mother and I'm having a hard time forgetting them."
Keres laughed a little awkwardly and looked at me apologetically "I'm sorry about her, mother can be pretty heartless sometimes. But let's just try and forget about it, huh?" He picked my hand up from my side and planted a kiss there as if that would be enough.
I tried my very hardest to forget about everything that had transpired that day and pretty soon I wasn't even trying to forget anything I was just enjoying my time with Keres.
He grabbed my hand and began pulling me up a hill. "Come with me," he was laughing as he said "I have to show you something," before I knew it we were on top of a hill overlooking the entirety of our small town.
My breath caught in my throat as I looked over it, not because I was so surprised or in awe of it but because of the sky above it. I looked over at Keres and smiled widely. The starlight was gleaming off of his blonde hair making him look like he had some kind of power or magic.
"Come on Nai, what are you waiting for?" he winked.
I just rolled my eyes "Don't wink at me for the love of Vita.you've been winking like that since we were kids, this makes me question whether you have a chronic eye problem." I said with a clear smirk on my face.
''Oh aren't you funny.'' he said, mocking me. I stepped over next to him, sitting down.
''Ah I know I should become a jester don't you think, I'll finally be allowed in court.''
''Oh you don't have to worry about that you can go to court with me.'' I could hear the tremble in his voice as he was truly scared I would say no to him.
''I'll go anywhere with you.'' I whispered, copying my words from one of the maids' romance books.
He put his arm around me and pulled me closer to him. I didn't fight it, I enjoyed the warmth of having him so close to my body. I leaned my head against his shoulder and smiled to myself mostly.
"I love you Nai," he whispered it into the top of my head and kissed me.
"Why?"
''Well for starters you dont look like any other girl in this kingdom, you are just so exotic and beautiful.'' for some reason that made me uneasy. I was always aware of my significantly darker complexion then the rest of this kingdom and I always hated it so why didn't I like him complimenting me on it.
''And you are so different from al the other girls, I mean damn Nai you are so beautiful.'' his eyes stared deep into me and I felt a blush coming up to my cheeks.
''You know i love you too K.''
''How could you not i mean look at me.'' I couldn't help but smile at him and his silly antics. But he wasn't lying, because he was very handsome. His green eyes shone in the dark and his almost white silk hair fluttered alongside with the wind and for some reason his sharp straight nose and strong features felt like home.
He pulled me into a deeper kiss then before making me melt into his arms. And now all I could think about were his lips and mine intertwined, and his arms wrapped around mine, and I fell into his arms, drinking as much of him up as I could.

The moon called out to me. It didn't have a voice or make a sound but I felt drawn to it. I looked over at Keres but he was gone. I wasn't even on the same hill anymore. I was in a field, it seemed to go on forever. There were no trees in sight, nothing but the neverending grass and moonlight. So much moonlight. It was brighter than the son. The moon seemed to have doubled in size, it almost took up the entire sky. I stared right towards it. I should have been blinded but I wasn't. The moon felt welcoming, it was as if it was the only place that was safe for me, or even a home. It almost felt closer to me than Kere's had. I looked down at my hands. They were gleaming, shimmering in the moonlight. I knew what I was supposed to do. I looked across the plain, the tall grass that was waving ever so slightly in the wind, the humidity that I wasn't used to but still felt at home in, and the moonlight. I took a deep breath then moved one foot forward as I began my journey, taking that first step towards the moon that beckoned me so.
