During Harry's battle with the snake in the Chamber of Secrets Tom's memory was watching him close to make sure the snake would do his job right but before he knew it his attention was caught by a small girl who followed her friends without their knowledge. The whole school knew her well and just fell over her adorable nature and her personality just showed she ws greatful for everything and always wanted to help everyone. Even now when the snake zapped by her as it chased Harry and making her scream in surprise before catching the attention of the young Tom Riddle.
Tom: are you okay?
the girl: I'm so sorry. That monster just scared me.
Tom: don't be, I get that it would scare you.
The girl: Who are you?
Tom: where are my manners, i'm Tom Riddle and what may I call you?
Diana: Diana, Diana Muto. I'm not really from around here.
Tom: That must be why I didn't recognize you, anyhow it's a pleasure to meet you Diana.
Diana: Are suppose to be a bad guy in here tho?
Tom: something like that.
Diana: I wish you didn't have to. You look too sweet to me
Tom: you...*slightly taken back by what she said* No one has ever said that
Diana: Is that a bad thing?
Tom: No, not at all. I just never thought I'd be seen as anything but the bad guy.
Diana: You don't want to hurt me do you?
Tom: No, i wouldn't never
Diana: Can you get the snake to stop?
Tom: of course, I don't want it to scare you again.
Diana smiles at that and jumps up to hug him
Tom's eyes widen in surprise and shock as he catches her and hugs her back
He then turns his attention to the snake and makes it go back in the walls while taking his diary and handing it to Diana
Tom: i want you to hold onto this for me
Diana: You are not leaving are you?
Tom: as much as i wish to stay, I'm not supposed to be here
Harry: Maybe you should *says as he comes back from his run*
Tom: I was trying to kill you, Potter, now you're telling me to stay? *raises an eyebrow*
Harry: You stopped Basilisk because of Diana. If you were as evil as your evil half, you would kill her.
Tom: Watch that mouth or I'll call on the Basilisk again
Diana: Please Tommy
Tom: *sighs* Alright, I'll stay but the minute someone pisses me off I'm not gonna promise not to kill them.
Harry: Become our professor. Teach us how to fight your evil half. We can find a way to get you a second chance to live your life to the fullest.
Tom: i'm not sure i even wanna do that.
Harry: This is a chance to make it up to all of us. Everyone will respect you and will talk with Dumbledore to find a way to justify you the Council of Magic.
Tom: *narrows his eyes* and what's in this for you? except for the fact that I let you live.
Harry: You risked everything to make a girl happy. Would you risk to never see her again?
