"You talk to your girl yet?" T said setting his bag down beside mine
"Not really." I said "Why you worried about that anyway?"
"Well I talked to my boy Jay and he said it wasn't like that. " T shrugged "Said she pretty much left the party after he did that."
"Well I still need to make sure she ain't out there doing stupid shit. Especially with her roommate Tonya."
"I don't understand how y'all doing long distance when you don't even trust her." He chuckled "Y'all different."
"Look don't worry about me and my girl no more ight?" I said grabbing my bag
I walked out the locker room putting my headphones on heading back to the dorm. I had an exam tomorrow and I haven't even gotten started on studying due to Coach having us do extra practices.
Finally reaching my dorm, I heard moaning indicating Milly must have a girl in here.
"Can't study here." I said to myself
I go to my room grabbing my textbook and notes and head out to to the atrium. Luckily no one was there. Setting my books down I pull out my phone checking the time. It was a little after 9:00PM.
I honestly felt bad about the way I came at Abby earlier. I never talked to her like that. I don't know what came over me. I sigh and press the Facetime logo in her contact. It rings twice before it's declined. If I was her I wouldn't want to talk to me either.
I put my phone down and open up my text book and began taking notes.
"I never seen you around before." A voice said
Looking up I see a lightskin girl leaning in the doorway with some books in her hand.
"I don't come here often." I said dryly
"Well my name is Yasmine." She said taking a seat across from me
"Well Yasmine I'm trying to study as you can see."
"Right...sorry." She said frowning
I roll my eyes putting my headphones in. Maybe she'll stop trying to talk to me now.
....
Checking my phone it was now 12 in the morning. Yawning I decide to call Abby one more time before heading back to my dorm.
"Hello." She answered on the last ring
Her face looked fresh as if she had just got out of the shower. Her long braids were in a bun on top of her head. She looked so beautiful.
"You just call to stare at me?" She asked
"No, I wanted to apologize about earlier, I shouldn't have came at you like that, you didn't deserve that."
"Well there's a lot of other things I don't deserve Pryce." She said
"And what is that?"
"Only hearing from you once a week for one." She began "Constantly being ignored, and oh being disrespected. I mean damn it took another nigga smacking my ass to get your attention!"
"Oh so all of this was a ploy to get my attention?"
"Are you that self-centered that you think everything is about you?" She asked "You seriously think I would set some shit up like that, it's like you don't even know me anymore!"
"I don't know what you're out there doing Abby."
"Well maybe if you picked up the phone for once in your fucking D1 life you'd know that I spend most my evenings waiting by the phone for your sorry ass to call!"
"Damn you still in here?" Yasmine said walking into the camera
"You can't be serious right now." Abby chuckled
"Abby it's not wh-.."
"Save it for a bitch who give a fuck because I no longer do." She said hanging up
"S-so-sorry, I didn't know you were on the phone." Yasmine said stammering
"Look just stay out of my way and leave me alone!"
She jumped at my voice and I brushed past her heading back to my dorm. What the fuck have I done? Abby was pissed, and seeing Yasmine was probably the tip of the iceberg for her. God I didn't know how I was going to make this right.
Laying down on my bed I pull out my phone looking down at my lockscreen. What used to be a picture of Abby and I was now replaced my a action shot of me dunking on a player from our last game.
Wait is that what I've did?
Have I been so busy with basketball that I've completely pushed her to the side?
I'm such a shitty boyfriend. Too caught up in chasing my dreams that I completely forgot about the number one person who's been by my side through all of it. She was right about everything she said. She didn't deserve how I was treating her at all. And I've been too caught up in basketball that I was completely oblivious. I'm supposed to be proving to her that this long-distance thing could work but here I am letting her down constantly.
An apology wouldn't be enough it would take action if I wanted her to forgive me.
It was now almost 1 in the morning and my exam was at 7AM. There's was no way I was getting any sleep tonight. I needed to talk to somebody.
"Boy why are you calling me at 3 in the morning?" My mom said answering the phone
"Sorry ma I forgot about the time difference, I can wait till the morning."
"No, no, no go ahead and say what's on your mind." She said "Is your coach being hard on you again?"
"No it's not that, I haven't been a very good boyfriend to Abby lately and I really need to make it up to her."
"What did you do to that girl Pryce, you know how much she loves you."
"I know, I know, and I feel like I really fucked up this time you know."
"Language."
"Sorry ma."
"Well you need to make this right Pryce. And whatever that means you have to do, you do it especially if you don't want to lose that girl."
"Yes ma'am."
"Now take your ass to bed an stop calling my phone so damn late." She said making me laugh
"Love you ma."
"Love you too boy."
I needed to get back in Abby's good graces. I don't care what I had to do.
