Crowley and Aziraphale were sat on their favourite bench in St. James's Park. Crowley was sprawled across his half, he was slouching and his arms were covering most of the whole bench. Aziraphale on the other hand was sitting straight up, his back hardly touching the bench and he had his hands neatly placed in his lap.
"Crowley."
"Yes Angel?"
"Do you think that our respective bosses will leave us alone after what just happened?"
"Well, your bosses just watched you, an angel, walk into hell fire, at spit it at them I might add." Crowley said smugly.
"Crowley!!" Aziraphale replyed with a disappointing look on his face.
"And they watched me, a demon," Crowley continued, "Take a bath in holy water."
"The other demons did look rather terrified I might add." Aziraphale responded.
"So I think it's safe to say that they won't be bothering us for a while."
"Yes, ok." Aziraphale sighed and relaxed his shoulders. Crowley gave him a reassuring smile and comforted him even more. Aziraphale felt a warm tingle in his chest, he pondered on it for a second before pushing it down and smiling back at Crowley. They both sat, smiling at each other for a good few seconds, before Aziraphale turned away and watched the ducks.
"How would you like a walk Crowley?"
"Sure, why not Angel the weather's nice." Crowley looked up at the beaming sun, and back down to Aziraphale, admiring how his face glowed in the sunlight. He then jumped up and said, "Lead the way then Angel." He gestured to the path and Aziraphale stood up and walked on.
They walked their usual route around the park, they knew this particular route so well that they could practically do it with their eyes closed.
Crowley always walked on the left, swaggering along with his hands, or rather his fingers, shoved in his tight jeans pockets. Aziraphale always walked on the right, he walked straight up, his hands slightly moving by his side. They usually talked when they walked, or Aziraphale would talk and Crowley would listen. But sometimes, when both men had many things on their minds, they just walked in a comfortable silence.
Today they walked along, just strolling in silence, both thinking about the events that had unfolded over the past week. Aziraphale was thinking about when he was a ghost, and he went to visit Crowley. He thought about the pain he heard in his voice. He couldn't see his face, but in truth, he was happy he didn't, he didn't know what he would have done if he had. Crowley had been waiting for the world to end, he had given up because his best friend had died.
"I lost my best friend." Those words echoed inside his head. He could virtually sense the sorrow and sadness that Crowley was feeling then. His mind was engulfed by emotions and he desperately tried to comfort himself and ended up edging slightly closer to Crowley and feeling his arm brush against Crowley's, grounding him and reassuring him that they are both there, alive and well. He let out the breath he was holding an relaxed his tensed shoulders.
Crowley noticed that Aziraphale was tense and got slightly worried. "Angel you alright?"
"Yes, I'm fine." Aziraphale replyed, but he knew he wasn't fooling anyone.
"Angel, clearly you're not ok, tell me." Crowley said, trying to reassure Aziraphale.
"Ok fine." Aziraphale stopped in the middle of the path and twiddled his thumbs.
"I was just thinking about when I was a ghost,"
"Yes?" Crowley said sympathetically.
"A-And I came to see y-you, in th-the pub. I-I was thinking about h-how sad you s-sounded." Aziraphale stumbled over his words and couldn't bring himself to look at Crowley.
Crowley immediately closed the gap between them and engulfed Aziraphale in a giant hug.
"Listen Aziraphale, everything is ok. You are here, in your body, you're back. Everyone is ok. We are ok." Crowley said tenderly into Aziraphale's ear. He felt the angel relax in his grasp and melt into the embrace. They both stood there, enjoying the hug, before Aziraphale pulled away and looked up at Crowley. He smiled up at him and said, "Thank you my friend, that helped a great deal." Crowley shot him a warming smile back.
"How about we have some lunch?" The angel proposed, "There is a rather nice sandwich place quite near here, within walking distance."
"Sounds amazing Angel. Once again, lead the way."
