"Perdy ,Y/n , I'm afraid it's all up to us." Pongo said, about to take the matter into their own hands or paws.
"Oh, Pongo. Isn't there any hope?" Y/n said, with her head laying on the puppy's empty bed.
"Well, yes. There's the twilight bark." Pongo said, to the two females.
"The twilight bark? That's only a gossip chain." Perdy said, thinking the idea won't work.
"Darling, it's the very fastest way to send news. If our puppies are anywhere in the city, the London dogs will know. We'll send the word tonight when our pets take us for a walk in the park." Pongo said, leaning his head on Y/n and Perdy's back. Their pets take them to regents park for a walk at night. Pongo started barking but no one barked back.
"There's no one out tonight. I'm afraid it's too cold." Perdy said, thinking their last resort was a no go.
"We've got to keep trying, Perdy. Y/n." Pongo said, before he started barking again. He soon heard barking back at him.
"Perdy, Y/n, we're in luck! It's the Great Dane at Hampstead." Pongo said, excited before he started he barked again.
"Quiet, boy! Do you want to stir up the whole neighbourhood?" Roger said, as he pulled on Pongo's Leash.
"Perdy, Y/n, come on! Let's go." Anita said, pulling Perdy and Y/n's leash.
"Pongo, you old idiot! Come on, now. We're going home!" Roger said, pulling harder on Pongo's leash.
"What is it, Danny? Who's on the telegraph?" a small dog came out of a house and asked a great dane what was happening.
"It's Pongo, Regents Park! It's an all-dog alert." Danny said, only getting half of the Message.
"What's it all about? Tell me, tell me!" The small dog begged Danny to tell him what was happening.
"Wait a minute, wait a minute. Well, now... Hmm, that is something." Danny said, before walking to another area of the yard.
"What, Danny? What's something?" the small dog said.
"15 Dalmatian puppies, stolen!" Danny said, in a serious voice.
"Have they called the police? Scotland Yard?" the small dog asked Danny.
"The humans tried everything. Now it's up to us dogs and the twilight bark." Danny said, hoping up to the fence.
"I'll sound the alert! Woof! Woof!" The small dog almost fell off the ledge. The word spread like wildfire, every dog was barking the message.
"Ahh! Prissy, come in here!" a lady said, pulling her dog into the room.
"Coco!" a poodle's pet yelled as the poodle barked the messages.
"Be quiet now! Aw, shut up! Quiet! Will you be quiet!" Humans yelled as the city erupted into barking. The barking quiets and only one dog would hear it and send it along.
"Towser, what's going on? What is it? What's all the gossip?" a duck asked a dog what was happening.
"Taint no gossip, Lucy. It be all the way from London." the dog named Towser said to the duck.
"You don't say!" the duck named Lucy said surprised.
"15 puppies stolen." Towser said, a bit surprised.
"There's no puppies around here, not since Nellie's last litter." Lucy said, confused.
"Well, then, we'd best send the word along. It be up to me to reach the Colonel! He be the only one in barking range." Towser said, a bit proud.
"You'll never reach him at this hour!" Lucy said, doubting that the Colonel would get the message.
"Well, I can try! I'll bark all night if I have to. Ahem!" Towser said, as he started barking.
"Hmm-hmm-hmm. Hmm... sounds like old Towser. It's an alert. Sergeant! Sergeant Tibs! I say, Sergeant!" a horse said, to a cat named Tibs.
"Oh, yes, Captain!" Tibs said, with his paw on his head like a salute.
"Barking signal. It's an alert. Report to the Colonel at once." Captain said to Tibs.
"Righto, sir. Right away, sir! Colonel? I say, Colonel! Colonel, sir? Colonel?" Tibs said, searching for the Colonel.
"What? Who goes there?" The colonel asked with hay and Tibs on his head.
"Sergeant Tibs reporting, sir." Tibs said, giving another salute.
"Tibs? Tibs? Oh, yes, Sergeant Tibs! Look here, Tibs. What's the idea of barging in at this hour?" Colonel said, slightly mad at Tibs for waking him up.
"But Colonel..." Tibs tried to explain but was interrupted by Colonel.
"Hold on, Sergeant. You hear that? Sounds like an alert." Colonel said, to tibs.
"Yes, Colonel." Tibs said, patently.
"We'd better look into it. Come along, on the double." Colonel said, standing up.
"Righto, sir." Tibs said, following Colonel.
"It's old Towser down at Withermarsh, sir." Captain said, to the Colonel.
"By Jove, yes! So it is. Well, I'll see what he wants. Ahem! Woof, woof, woof! Woof, woof, woof!" Colonel said, as he barked asking Towser what he needs.
"It be the Colonel. The old boy himself! He wants the message." Towser said, getting excited.
"You'd better make it loud or he'll never get it." Lucy said, before Towser started barking again.
"One long howl, two short. One yip and a woof." The Colonel told Captain and Tibs what Towser said.
"Two yips, sir." Tibs said, correcting Colonel.
"What's the word?" Captain asked.
"It's from London." Colonel said, answering Captain.
"It must be important." Tibs said, getting a bit excited.
"Yes, I'll get the rest of it. Ahem! Woof, woof, woof!" Colonel said, before waiting for the barking to come back.
[Distant Barking]
"Sounds like a number. Three fives is 13." Colonel said, counting numbers.
"That's 15 sir." Tibs corrected Colonel.
"Of course,15 ." Colonel said, correcting Tibs.
[Barking]
"Yes... Dot, Spot... Spotted puddings. Poodles. No, puddles!" The Colonel said, before Captain spoke.
"Puddles, sir?" Captain asked the Colonel.
"15 spotted puddles stolen? Oh, balderdash!" Colonel said, before getting off the ledge.
"Better double-check it, Colonel." Tibs said, getting the Colonel to get back on the ledge.
"Oh, yes, I suppose I'd better. Woof, woof, woof!" Colonel said, before listening Towser.
"Two woofs, one yip and a woof." Colonel said, reporting what Towser is saying.
"It sounds like "puppies"! Tibs said, before the Colonel spoke up.
"Of course, puppies!" Colonel said, correcting Tibs.
"I just remembered. Two nights past, I heard puppy barking at Hell Hall." tibs said, giving a hint of where the puppies can be.
"The old de Vil place? Nonsense, Tibs! No one's lived there for years." Colonel said, doubting that anyone was at hell hall.1086 words
