you sat in your boyfriends living room listening to him rave about wanting a new pet, you had zoned out at this point.

"baby, are you even listening?" he whined loudly catching your attention, you sat down his snake onto the carpet before staring at him intently.

"don't you think you have enough pets? i mean you have a snake for fucks sake." you stated, running your index finger against the snakes scales.

"yeah, but i wanna have a pet with you. kinda like a kid." he stated bouncing his leg while smiling at you.

"mm, ill think about it." you stated grabbing your phone, handing peter his snake since it was feeding time.

"ill be back, don't miss me too much." he stated winking at you, you couldn't help but laugh.

you opened up Google and began to type in the search bar "best pets for young kids"

small dogs, they are a little high up in care but it will be your child's best friend.

fish, fish can live up to 2-5 if cared for correctly.. perfect for a young child.

reptiles, reptiles are high on the list since most are easy to care for.

cats, cats are known to be independent some cats are the cuddle type which are good for 5-10 year olds.

birds, birds live for a long time as well but aren't as easy to care for but they sure are loyal.

and if all else fails, pet rocks are wonderful as well. no need to feed them or bathe them, and they will be your child's best friend for ever.. until they crack

"peter ill be right back!" you yelled, dropping you phone on the couch and grabbing a sharpie before running out the door.

it was now the next day, and you where ready to surprise peter.

you walked into the living room with a big box, you watched as his eyes lit up.

"oo! what is that?" he asked reaching for the box as you pulled away, you sat it on the ground.

"you know how you've wanted a new pet for a while?" you stated as you began opening the box, while peter nodded his head aggressively.

"well.. meet clementine!" you exclaimed, bringing out the rock you had selected from the local park.

peter smiled, gently grabbing the rock that had a little smiley face drawn on it.

"where are we gonna put her?" he asked, before having an idea. he headed to the kitchen grabbing an old silk rag and cutting it in half, before placing the rock onto the windowsill with the silk rag under it.

"i love it." you smiled before kissing his cheek, more happy that you didn't have to deal with a new pet of his.
