Chapter 25 - The days

(Him - Ryder) Now...

"How did you do that?" Enzo asks me.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I deny it because I don't want to talk about it, even if it was a fake wedding I can't handle it now.

"When did it begin?" He insists.

"I don't want to talk about it!"

"And I need you to speak about it. I need to know what's going on, to understand. Did you see something else than her past? Did you have some kind of weird dream?" He keeps interrogating me.

"It's not your business!" I hiss.

" I don't do that to torture you. I just need to know if there is a tiny possibility for Hope to still be alive." He says, bowing his head in respect.

"But you saw her body..." I comment.

"I know and it was her but leaving with Hope made me realize everything is possible..." He explains.

"So a part of you don't believe she's really dead." I ask.

"No I think she's dead but Dan is so persuaded that she's not. If he's as powerful as her he can see what we don't... So I'm doubting what I saw."

I think about the rain during their wedding, the breeze and the fireballs in Dan's memory.

"She was able to manipulate the elements, wasn't she?" I ask.

"Yes, she was but not only... But this part will jeopardize your pack so you need to be sure to be ready. And I can still feel how angry you're... I don't know if you're ready to hear all the truth. " He warns me.

"Start by how she became an elemental because she was not born one." I demand.

"She became one a few months after she left the pack. Maybe six months, I don't remember exactly. An elemental without any heir, or family left, had chosen her. I don't know what he saw in her but I can't help to think he knew what she would become." He explains.

"What did she become?" I ask, wanting to know more.

"The most powerful elemental that has never existed. Her abilities were unlimited, she was doing things nobody was able to. She could control everything, every element. She was amazing!" He says lost in his memories. I want to touch him to see more.

"So powerful that she attracted danger?"

He nods: " You have no idea. There were the ones who wanted her dead because she was too powerful and the ones who wanted to be able to possess her..."

"This is why she hid the fact Daniel was her biological son and why she hid him from me too."

"A seer told us that you would die if she was telling you while she was pregnant. That you will discover him when the time was right, not before."

"Is Daniel like her?" I ask.

"Yes and no. He's a wolf like you but he's also an elemental like her. He will develop his gift around the age of 10. I was there when Hope learned how to control them. I will be here to help him. I just wished Hope would be here. She would have been the best guide for him."

"Why were you so attached to my mate?" I ask, trying to keep my wolf in bay. We're both really jealous of their relationship. She trusted him while she never did for me.

"I was her protector..." He says, looking at his feet ashamed.

"Where were you when she died?" I ask.

"I was protecting what was the most precious for her... Like she asked me to."

"Our son... So you didn't fail her. You just follow her wishes. Don't be too hard on yourself."

When he doesn't reply, I add: " The first memory I saw of Hope was with Dan, but I also saw one with Ethan and another with my mother, when I touch them. My parents think it's because I want to understand and to know more."

"Yeah, it could be a possibility, that or it's your mate's bond with her which would mean that Hope it's still alive somewhere." He comments.

"Then it would mean she has been captured by someone who wants to control and possess her."

"I know..."

"How can we check that theory?" I ask him.

"I don't know. You need to push looking to see more memories. Phoebe, Hope's best friend is a witch and she cast a spell for me to be able to reinforce our bond but nothing ever changed. Maybe your bond which is stronger than mine to her, so it might be your bond that she reinforced. So be open minded and if anything weird happens and let it happens and see where it leads you." He advises.

"Can we call for Phoebe's help?" I ask.

"I'm not sure. Something bad happened in Phoebe's life that pushed them to broke their sisterhood bond. I can ask her for me but her mate can't know it's linked to Hope... She would've to come for another reason. I would keep that shot as a last resort."

I nod in agreeement and inquire: " Tell me more about who could have her?"

"The biggest and worst one is a vampire called Anatoli. He's a close friend of Prince Dmitry, second son of King Vladimir and a well known sadist. He was already obsessed with Henri, the elemental who gave his gift to Hope. He is a monster too. I really hope she's not with him."

"What other secret Hope was hiding?" I ask him.

I see him hesitated but before he can reply, someone knocks at the door.

I sigh: "Enter!"

"Sorry to disturb you Ryder but I know a little man that would like to see you." Sam says with Dan by her side.

We will have to finish this discussion later. Nothing comes before Daniel.

"Hey little man. How can I help you?"

"Can you tell me more stories about mommy, please?" He asks me with his small voice and his big puppy's eyes.

"Our little Pup!" My wolf comments with love. How can we resist? Impossible!

"Of course! Come here." I smear.

"I should go." Enzo says getting up.

I nod grateful for him to let me spend some time alone with my son.

"You know you drew her, Hope..." He says looking directly at my eyes before leaving.

Pff! I know I drew her like a thousand times!

I spent the rest of the afternoon with my son and he's the light I need right now. It's good to start to build a relationship with him. He's a clever little boy. I have to say Hope and I did an amazing making it.

As he wants to play with my wolf and to meet him, I decide to go play outside. I will just have to call Louis after, I want him to dip in Anatoli's life. I need to know anything I can about him. I don't know why but I've not doubt it's necessary. Futhermore, If it's not for Hope, I need to get ready to protect our pup.

I didn't have time to speak again with Enzo as I had to catch up with my work for the pack. Tomorrow I will, ready or not, I want to know everything it's time!
