Bridget POV
When I woke up it was to a bright light shinning in may face, that light was also known as the sun. I rolled over and tried my hardest to shield my eyes from the blinding light but it just refused to go fully away. I took that as my cue to get up and get ready for the day ahead. I walked into my bathroom and took a hot shower before brushing my teeth and letting my hair air dry. I walked calmly over to my closet before pulling out the sparkling shoe and admiring it's beauty. I wish I was still at the palace in James's arm as he soothed and as he loved me. My heart started to race again but I quickly hid the shoe back behind my clothes again before pulling out one of my favorite blue dresses. I quickly slipped out of my sleep wear and changed before running downstairs so I want late for breakfast.
Mr. Moriscos, Ms. McKinnon, and Marley were already digging into a scrumptious breakfast including chocolate pancakes and eggs. I was greeted with multiple good mornings as the water in the stove finally came to a boil. I got back up and stirred in the tea before pulling out some cups and serving the warm drink. Around thirty minutes later our guests came grumpily down the stairs huffing and puffing, "mother it is not fair! He didn't even look at us but he immediately went with that girl. She want even that pretty!" I chuckled under my breath but I got a look from Ms. McKinnon telling me that wasn't a good idea.
"How was your night Marlene and Matilda?" I hated the fact that Ms. McKinnon was so nice. "It was horrid! We arrived there and everything was going well, we were in line to meet the king and everything! That was until a mystery girl showed up and king James swept her off her feet. They danced together even though it was quite obvious that she couldn't dance! He don't even look at us." The both started to wail and blow their noses as tears fell from their contorted faces uncontrollably. My step mother came down the stairs and sat down next to me without glancing in my direction.
"Yes the mystery girl was quite ugly too, I mean who wears blue to a ball? What an ugly color." I rolled my eyes because she probably didn't even notice that James was wearing that color too. "I honestly think she should be found and discarded with, maybe beheaded? She played with our king and I think she should be punished." I glanced over at Ms. McKinnon and all she did was shrug. "You do know he was looking for his mate so that could have been her." My stepmother's eyes snapped in Ms. McKinnon's direction as her left eye twitched, "yes I know but my daughters still had a chance." Something big was about to go down so I decided that I would excuse myself from the table, "I am going to go and milk the cows if that is okay?" Mr. Moriscos nodded as I cleaned up my plates and headed outside to the fresh air.
"Good morning Bessie and Belle! How are my two favorite girls? I might be moving out soon... just kidding. It is best is both me and James except the fact that we can not be together. It really sucks but my stepmother will rip me apart if she finds out and we can't have that." I walked over to the two girls and pet them in between their ears soothing them lightly. I sat down on a metal pail and got to work it I didn't miss a second of not talking about my night, I had to tell someone.
By the time I finished milking the cows, pulling the fresh fruit, and watering all of the flowers it was approaching dinner time. I walked back into the house before finding a note in the kitchen stating that Mr. Moriscos, Ms. McKinnon, and Marley all headed to the market to purchase some chicken for dinner. I shrugged as my thoughts wondered to the market, I bet James is there right now. I wandered up the stairs lost in thought before heading to my bedroom. I walked into my room to find my step mother sitting on my bed and staring at me holding something blue and clear looking... my shoe. "Oh Bridget where in the world did you get this? Did you steal it? Where did you get this and why were you at the ball last night when you were forbidden to go?" I just stared at her not being able to speak because my throat was so dry.
