🌸Cʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 1🌸

Haruno Sakura stared at the backs of her teammates and sensei, Uchiha Sasuke the Uchiha prodigy, Uzumaki Naruto the dead last and Hatake Kakashi the infamous Copy Ninja. All three were fighting for their lives while she only stood there, kunai in hand, doing absolutely nothing.

Useless.

Shaking the unwanted but true thought out of her head, Sakura retired her focus on the battle in front of her. Yet, no matter how hard she tried, she knew it was true. She was useless.

She had to be constantly protected. The only reason Kakashi-sensei even bothers to look towards her direction was to make sure she and Tazuna, the bridge builder, were still alive.

What has she been doing with her life?

Oh right! Fawning over the brooding Uchiha, that was what she has been doing. Speaking of said person, Sakura's eyes skim over to where he was only to be petrified with horror.

How deep on thought was she to have ignored all that has happened. The battle was already nearing the end of the climax. Without a second delay, without even thinking, Sakura took one step towards her beloved Sasuke-kun. She stopped in her tracks.

She has a mission.

Though not as life endangering as what her teammates were doing, it does not change the fact that she has a job to do. Steeling her reserve, she held the kunai in hand tighter. She has to protect Tazuna-san no matter the cost because that was her one and only job. If she can't even carry that out properly, who was she to call herself a ninja?

The rest of the battle was quite a blur to her. Part of her mind was still lost in thought. Now she stood in front of two graves, each belonging to the person whom her teammates had been fighting slightly more than an hour ago.

This opened her eyes to a new life information.

People, ninjas included, die everyday. Only the stronger survive while the weaker will parish. To protect those she cares for and herself, Sakura finally understood the need to better her strength.

That's right, from that day onwards, Sakura pledge to become a kunoichi capable of protecting others and herself. That was her motivation. She would become a ninja that her teammates could rely on and fight along side them in battle.

On the road back to Konoha, Sakura started thinking of a training regiment. Since she has always been a self-proclaimed paper ninja, her first stop would be the Library. There she would read up on as much information as her brain could absorb. The practice part? Well, that was a problem for another day.

Arriving back in Konoha, Sakura made a quick stop at her house to shower and change. Since she barely helped in the battle, the pink-haired kunoichi was still full of energy. Maybe next not more than her orange jumpsuit teammate but definitely, she was wide awake.

Making her way to the part of the library opened to genins, Sakura took 3 books on Chakra, 2 books on genjutsu since that was apparently her type and 1 book about Konoha history just as some light reading in case she finished early.

Glancing at the clock, Sakura noticed that she had about 4 hours more or less before she needs to head home to prepare dinner. Deciding to not waste anymore time, Sakura dived straight into her reading.

The said kunoichi failed to notice a guy with a senbon in between his mouth staring at her reading, observing her, intrigued.

This is the first chapter and I hope you like it. I know it's kinda short but I'm actually rushing this.

This chapter will most likely all that will be posted as I have an exam coming soon and I need to prepare for it.
