The train for the escape of the war leaves in a near twenty minutes, I believe it is heading to the town of Mavrid, yet in reality I could care less. I walk along the path to the train station and get plenty of looks for my choice of clothes, but I figured I wouldn’t want to be in a petticoat dress when I plan on making this long of a journey.

The older train pulls up with many luggage cars, and no passenger cars. Many of the people just stand looking confused, but as a few men open the doors I climb in at first opportunity, not wanting to be left behind. I few younger boys follow my lead and as the cart fills the doors close leaving little, if any light exposed. A few of the boys light matches and lanterns the people from the station had given them; this seemed to give us a bit more light. I slump to the floor of the cart propping my backpack up as a pillow. I look around, to see who I will be spending this journey with, three young boys, two older men, two older women, and a little girl. Her chestnut hair shines in the light from the lanterns, she doesn’t seem to have anyone on this cart. I tie my long red hair into a braid, and sweep my bangs out of my eyes. At this point I will get some sleep and then worry about her, if something seems wrong.

I wake up to the sound of the trains breaks. I remember the little girl from earlier, so I quickly wipe my eyes to wake myself, and look over to the right of me. There she still sits, clutching her legs to her chest, obviously scared of the train, and her surroundings. I quickly slide over to the corner where she sits.

“Hi there.” I give a small smile, being careful not to scare her away.

“Hi.” She squeaks, smiling showing her little teeth. I can’t help but smile at how cute she is.

“Where are your mommy and daddy, sweetheart?” I continue to smile, and try to make her feel as comfortable as possible. She quickly lets go of her knees and looks at me, then she wraps her tiny arms around my waist. I react by hugging her back and setting her on my lap.

“I don’t know my mommy and daddy! But I love my brother Hunter!” She smiles as she looks up at me with dark brown eyes, yet I can’t quite tell because of the dim lighting.

“Well, I’m happy you love your brother!” I smile and she gives a grin back. “Where is your bother?”

“I saw him last on a different train at home! But then they sent me here, because of scary people.” She almost whispers, yet still with a wide grin spreading across her face.

“I’m glad you came to see me then, I’m not scary!” She giggles as I give her a little poke in her stomach.

“My brother Hunter would like you! What’s your name?” I smile at her.

“My name is Kameron! What is your name?”

“My name is Grace!” She giggles, looking up at me, “I like you! You’re pretty!”  I giggle and smile.

“Well thank you Grace!” She smiles and plays with her little doll. I notice the sun setting, and decide to get her settled into bed. I take her little backpack, and set it behind her head. I rummage through my bag and find an old blanket of mine and decide to cover her with it. After saying goodnight I find myself drifting off, so I decide to let myself sleep a bit.
