As the morning approaches I awake with little fingers tapping on my shoulder.
“Good morning Grace!” She smiles at me as I turn around. “I think we’re getting close to Mavrid!”
“I know! Dave told me!” She says pointing to the gray haired man towards the left of me. I smile and politely say hello. I get up quickly, talking my hair out of my braid and putting the blanket into my backpack. As I finish packing up the sun rises, and the train brakes start to screech. I grab a hold of Grace’s hand and move towards the cart door, as does everyone else.
When the doors open we proceed outside, happy to see the sunlight, and a bathroom. I help Grace hop down from the cart and we grab our bags, and shuffle towards the bathroom.
“Now when you’re done using the restroom I need you to wait for me right here, ok?” She nods and hurrily moves into the bathroom. I use the restroom as well, and then move to the bench where Grace sits with her doll. I hold her hand as we sit, waiting for who knows what.
As we sit enjoying the sun we had missed the past few days I feel Grace let go of my hand and jump up quickly. She runs towards a taller man, right around my age. His dark wavy hair shines in the sunlight, and I can’t help but stare at his plaid shirt. This must be Hunter.
After what seemed to be a happy reunion, he comes towards me.
“Hello,” He says politely. “Thanks for watching over Grace, it means a lot.” He smiles showing his teeth and I give a polite smile.
“No problem.” I say nonchalantly.
