"What the fuck" are the only words that came out of my mouth.

"Wow, it's nice to see you too, Tess," he said with a weird look on his face.

"Charlton, what the hell are you doing at my party because I don't recall inviting you?" I asked, not losing eye contact.

"Your mother invited me to come."

"Of course she fucking did." I said as I tried to make my way around him to the door. He stepped in front of the door, blocking my exit.

"She is just worried about you, Tess. She thought if I came here and surprised you, you would be happy to see me."

"For one, stop calling me Tess because you don't have the right to call me that anymore. For two, I'm not happy to see you Charlton, or should I say Laroi? I wouldn't want to offend you by calling you by your real name," I said rudely.

"Charlton, please call me Charlton like you always have. You don't ever have to call me Laroi. Why aren't you happy to see me? We haven't seen each other in almost three years now, Tess."

"I'm not happy to see you because you only came here because my mother reached out to you and asked you to come. You wouldn't have come on your own to celebrate with me. I'm not Justin or Addison, so why would you ever want to come see me?" I ask, almost crying.

"I came to see you because I miss you, Theresa. I'll be honest, I wouldn't have come if your mom didn't invite me, but that's because I didn't want to come and make you mad. I've wanted to come to your parties for the past two years, but I didn't want to take the spotlight off of you on your special day. Trust me, I have wanted to come see you and make sure you were doing okay, but every time I have reached out, you never answer me."

"It's not just my special day, it used to be 'our' special day. I wouldn't have cared if the spotlight was on you because you would have been there for me, Charlie. My best friend would have been back with me, but I haven't had my best friend in a long time and that's why I don't answer you because I don't know you anymore. I used to know Charlton, but I have no idea who this Laroi person is. So please do us both a favor, just stay away from me and pretend I don't exist. Thank you for following my moms request, but I'd rather not see you again. Goodbye, The Kid Laroi," I said as I push my way past him and through the door.

Charlton's POV

"I used to know Charlton, but I have no idea who this Laroi person is. So please do us both a favor, just stay away from me and pretend I don't exist. Thank you for following my moms request, but I'd rather not see you again. Goodbye, The Kid Laroi," she said as she walked right past me. She didn't even give me a chance to say anything. I wanted to tell her how beautiful she looked in that dress, how much I have truly missed her, how I never stop thinking about her, and how I actually begged her mom to let me come here today.

Her mom was actually hesitant on letting me come to her party because she figured it would make her upset, but I persuaded her to let me come because I thought she would be happy to see me, but I guess I was terribly wrong about that. I hope her mom doesn't rat me out and tell her I begged to be here, but maybe that is what Theresa needs to hear to be able to forgive me.

I didn't want anyone to make big deal that I was here, so I walked downstairs and tried to slip my way out of the back, but I was not lucky enough.

"Oh my gosh! Is that The Kid Laroi?!" I heard a girl squeal behind me.

"Shit," is the only thought that ran through my mind. I shouldn't have come here because now Tess is going to be very pissed off with these people making a scene. I looked back and gave the girl a slight smile and she yelled to the rest of the room, "Guys, Theresa surprised us with a mini concert by The Kid Laroi!"
