Chapter 6: The Escape

As the house burned, the group, having no idea what was going on, had one of them go investigate the sounds being heard down the hallway. When Marshall gets to the door he hears it much clearer and thinks, "No, they wouldn't..." as he slowly touches the door he pulls back at hearing a small "ttss" as he touches it. Marshall rushes back to the group to tell them.

Marshall tells them: "Guys. I think they are burning the house down!"

Pol says: "Really?!"

Hayden asks: "Are you sure Marshall?"

Marshall response: "Yes! I'm sure of it!"

Ann says: "Dam it..."

They all look at each other and around the room which was stocked with limited supplies. They quickly discuss what to do now that they're in this situation. They finally agree that they should stay in the room until the fire burns itself out or get put out by some rain or anything that could put out the fires. As they sit there in the little bunker waiting for the fire to die by some means Pol decides to go see if it has gone out yet. When he gets there he slowly puts his hands on the door, when he puts his hand on the door, he feels that the door is cooled off. As he opened the door he felt some warm air flow in through the heavy door. He gives the door a big shove to get it open, and all he sees is the remnants of their once large and proud house. As he walked forward he saw what looked like what was up the stairs, which had now become the downstairs.

As Pol stood there, Hayden, Marshall, and Ann came up behind him. They just stood there with Pol just taking it all in. Hayden eventually piped up and said that they should see what they can find in the wreckage of their house. They all agreed with him, they split up to see what they could find. As Ann looked through the wreckage she found an old photograph of the whole group of friends including Titus and Kenny. As she looked at the photograph, she fell to her knees and started to cry out in pain at the sight of two people she cared about standing with them looking so happy. While she sat there in the ashes of their once beautiful house she suddenly started to have dozens of flashbacks to all the happy moments in their lives, when they were still with them.

Back with Pol he was looking through the ashes when he caught something out of the corner of his, he decided to walk over to what he saw. As he walked over to it he suddenly heard talking, but it wasn't human, he ducked down behind the half gone wall. He just barely peaked up over what was left of the wall. As he did this he caught a glimpse of the two phantoms standing by a Yamaha Rhino that had a small cage on the back of it.The phantoms were just standing there talking about what was going on, and what Titans plan was. Pol could tell that they were talking about this but couldn't tell what they really said, he was too far away to hear. Pol seeing this and barely hearing this sneaks away back into the house to reorganize the group. When he finally has everyone in the same place again he starts telling them what's going on.

Pol says: "Okay people. We have a problem."

Hayden asks: "What is the problem?"

Pol replies: "There's a vehicle up front with two phantoms."

Marshall asks: "Okay? Anything else?"

Pols replies: "Yes. One has a large gun of some sort and there seems to be a cage on the back of their vehicle"

Candace says: "Okay... we need to split them up somehow..."

Marshall pipes up and says: "I think I have an idea."

As Marshall tells them what to do and where to go, he hands the shotgun to Hayden and says to wait here out of sight. Then he tells Pol that he is going to be the bait. When they finally are ready to ackout the plan Pol walks out the front door of the destroyed house and says hey over here dumb asses. The two phantoms see him and the one with a gun says he will go get him. He hands the gun to the other one and tells him to guard the rhino. When he follows him into the house suddenly a loud gunshot is heard. The one with a gun runs in after him yelling out his name. When he gets inside the house's remains, he finds the other one dead on the ground with his head blown to bits. As he sees this he starts to panic, but then he calms himself and realizes that he still has the assault rifle in hand. He quickly raises it to aim and shoot at whoever did this, as he's searches the area for the soon to be dead survivors. He turns a corner and finds Pol standing there unarmed. He laughs maliciously and soon points the gun at Pol to shoot him when WHACK, he was hit from behind. He just turns and sees Marshall holding a burned support beam that was now destroyed.
