I hate hospitals. The sounds, the smells, the way doctors act like I'm a kicked puppy who needs their help, So sitting in the waiting room of the Grey-Sloane Memorial Hospital, with Ms. Parker, my probation officer, next to me was not my idea of a fun Saturday. "Hi! I'm Dr. Amelia Shepard" A lady with wavy brown hair had appeared out of no where. Ms. Parker jumped up and shook her hand, "Hello, Dr. Shepard. I am Celia Parker, Thalia's probation officer." Dr. Shepard shook her hand then looked at me, "You're Thalia?" I nodded, pulling my hood farther over my head, "Yes, this is Thalia Reese," Ms. Parker pulled me to my feet, I slowly got up, the blood rushing to my head, making the cut above my eye throb. "Did you fill out the forms the nurse gave you?" Dr. Shepard asked Ms. Parker, who responded by handing the forms to the doc. "Great!" Dr. Shepard clapped her hands and said, "Ok, Thalia why don't you come with me and Ms. Parker can wait here? That good?" I shrugged, Ms. Parker said "Yes." "Good deal!"

Dr. Shepard lead me to a exam room, and pulled the curtain closed.
"So, tell me about yourself Thalia." She asked, going around and setting things up, I sighed, "I'm 16, I like to skateboard and I really don't want to be here right now." Dr. Shepard chuckled, "Yeah, not many people like hospitals." She pulled on gloves and offered to take my hoodie, I said no, not wanting her to see the cut above my eye or the bruises on my arms. They're from my dad, my drunk alcoholic dad with a dead-end job, who absolutely hates me. He hated me even more when he found out that instead of going to school yesterday, I went to the NorthPark field to get high and got caught by Officer Thorne, who noticed the gash above my eye and told me I was to go to Grey-Sloane today with Ms. Parker.

Anyway, Dr. Shepard told me I had to take it off, and when I did she audibly gasped, "What happened?" I had to think of an excuse "I-I fell, skateboarding." I said quickly, shifting in my seat, the paper crinkling under my legs. I prayed she didn't turn my wrists over, and see the scars. I flinched as Dr. Shepard gently touched  the cut, "Your gonna need stitches." She said, pulling off her gloves. My eyes widened and I breathed in sharply, then hoped Dr. Shepard hadn't heard. I couldn't go home with stitches, my dad would kill me, thinking I had told a doctor about him hitting me. Which I would never do, given the choice. "You stay here, I'll be right back." Yeah, that's not happening. After she left, I hopped up, grabbed my stuff and walked out, on the lookout so I didn't run into the doc or Ms. Parker. I was almost out the door when I ran into Dr. Shepard. "Thalia? What are you doing?" I froze and turned around, "Leaving." Dr. Shepard stared at me, "What? No, you-" "Look, doc, I am leaving, I don't need stitches and I'm perfectly healthy. Goodbye." With that I walked out the door, leaving Dr. Shepard standing there and never planning to come back.
