A few days later, I walked into Thalia's room, "Good news, Thalia!" She looked up, from her book, expectantly. "You're bring discharged today!" Her face lit up, then fell. "What's the matter?" I asked. "Where am I going to go? I mean my mom is dead, she had no siblings, that I know of... and now my dad is in jail, I have nowhere to go." I sat down on the bed, thinking, "What about your grandparents, do you have any?" Thalia shrugged, "I mean, I think my moms parents are in LA but they never liked me because of my dad." I thought for a little bit, then got a idea. "Tell you what, I'll take a few days off, take you to my house and let you stay there for a little bit while we get things sorted out. You'll need someone to take care of you anyways, with you leg and ribs. How about that?" She smiled, and said, "Thank you! Um..but could we get food when we leave? If I have to eat this hospital food for one more day, I don't know what I'll do." I laughed as I went to go get the discharge papers, "Sure, T, what ever you want."

As I wheeled Thalia out of the hospital, we heard choruses of "See ya Thalia!" or Bye, Thalia!" In her short few days at the hospital, she had gained a fan club. The doctors were in awe of her story and the residents took any chance to see her and ask her questions. She basked in the attention. I leaned over, "You're quite the celebrity here." She smiled, "I see that." I helped her into the car and off we went, stopping for McDonald's on the way.
